the only comparison you could make between the R32 and the VXR is that they are both the same class of car, and both the top models from each manufacturer

An Accelerator Pedal Retarding Intervention Lump solves that IIRC. I think Daimo has one

Uncle and/or brother, and it had to be 100% true because they worked for vauxhall.

Actually it was my other halfs brother.

Yes it had a part number hence I believed it to be true. Why wouldn't you? I mean, should I listen to a few people off the internet, or a vauxhall working bloke, who hard part numbers and an order form? Well actually, it was the internet people But still, who would you believe?

Difference is I can look back and joke about it, whilst weiners on the internet use it as one of the few times i've stuck by something to be proved wrong.

Mind you, anything to get me eh.....

Im happy to joke about it, I made a hash up. Im all man though so can admit and joke about it, not just shy away when i've made a bell end of myself....

No comparison, S3 or R32 pisses all over the VXR! And for VXR owners, especially the ones that own those bodged jobbed 'Burg editions, to try and compare their shit heaps to these beauties, it's just unreal!!

Sorry is that for real????

So a £30k car is suprisingly better quality than a £20k car?

No sh1t, who's the smart people working that one out

I spec'd up a golf 2.0 268bhp the other day. £35k.... For a f**king VW Golf. I'd EXPECT it to be far superior in terms of quality AND performance. Shame it only has the quality. But im still trying to find where £15,000 has gone in quality of the VW over the vauxhall......

An R32 really is nothing special, thats why its being phased out. Likewise with the 3.2 A3, what a pointless shed of a car

front end heavy, all noise no go, not fast really, but indeed the plastics and interior are better. Just not £15k better

I didn't believe you so just tried it. List on a basic GTD 170 is £25k, didn't take long to hit £32k with a few options
Could still have added more but got bored

Prices are mental, but then you look at Audi/BMW as well and the amount of extras are just crazy. That said Vauxhall doesn't offer half the extras that is on the VW configurator but still.

Disagree with the R32 not being quick though. A little over 6 seconds to 60 is hardly slow by any means. Don't get me wrong, I still think the GTi is the better car (nearly as quick, cheaper, better handling etc.) but I'd never say the R32 was no-go.

Ive just specced a fully loaded Golf GTD on the VW site, came to £33,195 with £8,275 of options!

And got to £29,727 on a Astra VXR

Aye, but depends on peoples definitions of quick. I don't think our VXR's "quick", its nippy. but other people would (and have plenty of times ) disagree on my own opinion of fast

Quality has vastly improved, but its still behined Ze Germans.

But then again as I say, £10k+ saving for a bit of quality in the dash plastics and such really isn't worth it. ]

I find the astra seats more comfy too

Im really looking forward to the new Astra VXR when it eventually comes out, as no-one knows much about it.

Vauxhall kinda headed the game (after the Type R) in terms of power and speed improvements to hot hatches, but this time they've got to catch up as all the other marques have upped the game.

Im looking forward to the new VXR. Theres only a few decent cars that fall in the £20k-£30k price range. The Golf, A3, A4 etc all fall outside this range even though its in the same class.

Thats a TD though.

What about the new Golf S (think??). The one with the 268bhp 2.0 turbo motor in it. Thats the current VXR/Megan/Type R rival.

Its better qality becuase its a huge amount extra.

How did you muster £29.7k on the astra though? To think when Donna got hers it had the following options.

19" alloys
Paint
Sat Nav
Leather Seats

Of which she got the first 3... Think the spec list has changed somewhat now
