Does it get busier than that? Expect it probably will be on Saturday. Looks like a great spot though. Better pack my camping chair by the looks of it. There a pub nearby?

im not really up to date on planes.
but i was thinking this as we've recently had a eurofighter and f22 fly over my work the last couple of days.
who would win in a redbull air race style
Raptor vs Eurofighter

The Raptor has compromised aerodynamics due to stealth where as the Eurofighter is designed for utmost manoeuvrability. So my money would be on the Eurofighter tbh.
I would rather lose by a mile because i built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me.

Why do you refer to it as Eurofighter? Typhoon is surely more apt for the UK?

Because it wasn't designed by one country, and funded by 4 IIRC?
Hence EUROfighter?

It was slightly ridiculous when the raptor came out, whole day there was a series of speakers commentating on each plane and running you though the manoeuvres. All of them very interesting. The raptor came out and some stupid American guy stepped up to the mic and did the most unnecessarily dramatic, movie trailer type commentating. Don't understand why the Americans have to over dramatise everything

RBAR - Eurofighter, without fair.
Air Battle, F22, unless they got close enough for a dog fight, in which case Eurofighter. But as most air battles are done over distance and missiles now and not dogfights, i'd still say the F22 would win. Eurofighter wouldn't be able to track it down (Ste will confirm/deny this though).

Also, It is only a Typhoon if it is a RAF one. I work on UK and Saudi ones so I'm not going to give them different names depending on what aircraft I'm working on that day.

Do you want a cuddle or what? Because it's days like this where I really could walk up to you and give you a gigantic sloppy kiss on your lug holes.

This is a difficult one and one where people assume stealth has a part to play in a dog fight or even long range air interception.
What you need to remember, is for a stealth plane to 'see' it's enemy it has to use RADAR, which transmits a high powered radio wave. This is easily detected by a Eurofighters avionics and using mono-pulse interferometry it can pin point where the stealth plane is. Basically it is like someone completely in the dark in black overalls. to see you they need to shine a torch. so you now see them.
Stealth is useful for bombers to avoid Radar guided AA but nowadays we have enough capability that we already know where the radar sites are so can fly around them or high enough that they pose no threat. Bombs now use guidance so can be released higher up and wind etc has no effect on them as they steer themselves to target.
Also, remember, the Raptor and Eurofighter carry basically the same air intercept missiles but the Eurofighter carries more of them as it doesn't need to hide them away. And the most succesful missile is the AIM 9L sidewinder which detects heat. the Raptor still emits a huge heat signature as the engines need to be so powerful due to its massive drag.
Still I think the EFA would win. Stealth is so over rated.
I would rather lose by a mile because i built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me.
