Yes they are twice as quick due to no sills and no floor

My XE Nova felt like a different car all together, so much faster.

From 0 to 77 I was ahead of an E46 M3 then he overtook.

They are about level from past experience, a 16v in a lighter shell such as a stripped out XSI are quicker. Like I said, XE's are quick but not unbeatable by any means.

100 kgs or so. Quite a lot when the total is less than 1000kgs.

150 bhp compared to 120 bhp, there would be negligable differences with such small power differences even if both cars were the same weight

How many XE's do you know that are 150bhp these days, they are old engines that are generally not looked after, a GTI with breathing mods will see you 135ish bhp. There really isnt that much difference.

My xe has had a full rebuild not long ago so should be about 150+ish

I think a 106 would keep up with a corsa xe till 100mph

I can't see a GTI/VTS getting ahead of a XE

I've had both so its not a biased opinion

Anyways....

'what cars can redtops beat/keep up with? '

The old saxo/GTI vs corsa xe is getting old now and the only outcome is people falling out

On heavier cars yes, on light cars no, the lighter the car is the less power you need to go faster.
eg Caterham did a package that puts an extra 20bhp on the k-series engine and it makes a lot of difference.
