Get yourself down to Mangoletsi (My old work) and have a gander

Bigger than an astra I'd say, bit bigger than a golf too

Get an Alfa, it won't break any more or less than any other car.

Don't VXR's like gearboxes?

If I had to have a bigger car it'd be a 159 estate!

Does no-one read the original post.

RS6 doesn't fit into the criteria at all.

And its not a "which car" thread.

Love the look of the alfas, but on that criteria and budget id be looking at a brand new Octavia VRS Diesel fully loaded and remapped.

Don't get me wrong the Alfa looks nice, but from what you have described you can get better.

The depreciation on an Alfa is pretty bad, I would never consider buying one that new.

Buy one in a few years for £4k buy something now that will hod a decent amount of money.

Residuals would be my only concern with an Alfa of that age.

Ive had a 156, it was 7yrs old & had a rotten chassis rail among other things. I struggled to get a grand for it & my old man had paid 19k for it new!!

Anyone with their 'sensible' head on is going to struggle to recommend buying an Alfa even nearly new.

Seems kind of ironic that your missus won't let you buy another Vauxhall due to reliability issues, but will happily get an Alfa.....

Nothing to do with Vauxhall reliability issue. Every Vauxhall i've owned has been bombproof.

Its because she's fed up of Vauxhalls. I've had 3 in a row now, she's had two in a row.
