Tbh I actually can't remember. I thought it was £600 but people keep mentioning £400 so I assumed it was that much!
At the time my car was probs worth about £17k tho. Its now worth £12k

I paid £200 for a full detail including swirl removal on my LCR and got as near as dammit the same results.

Fair enough. But remember its not just about the final results. Its about the preparation, process and protection etc too.
Not saying your detail wasn't just as good. But other things apart from just the final "shine" need to be taken into account.

Anyway, if I don't end up with a company car i'm going for one of these next. So you can all rip the piss when I pay £500 to have it corrected and detailed!

i was in Halfords on saturday and i saw an autoglymn wheel brush and no word of a lie it looked absolutely no different then a toothbrush and bristles were exactly the same , had a fancy handle on it and they wanted 14 quid for it. I mean seriously its a brush?
I am not knocking your brothers work BluKoo and can see the end results look very good but when he writes things like he used
"EZ brushes"
"Raceglaze brushes"
"Triple Duty Brush"
whats the difference with the above brushes over a normal brush?

This was my detail done by MartinC that used to come on here. For £200 thats a fukin bargin on what he done and I think everyone else would turn there nose up at it for the price

But it all depends on the level of prep and the procedures used.
Mine had to have a 2 day full correction detail. It was a mess thanks to the accident repair bodyshop "valeting" it with what must have been a bucket of gravel. So it took alot of work to correct the paint.
In all about 8 stages were used to get the paint from its original state to the final product. This included 2 layers of silly expensive Zymol wax.
So tbh i'm happy I got enough out of it for what I paid.
Just to point out...these pics were just fired off by Matthew when I came to pick it up. Nothing set up etc. And unfortunatley couldn't do outside shots due to it pissing down.

Without belittling Martin as I spoke to him when he first started doing this and am now not sure if he's in it as a business or not, but I know when he did your car big eck he was still in the early stages and therefore not insured and was working from home - 2 large overheads immediately removed that resulted in the price you paid.
I cba to get involved with the rest of the argument though.

Thats true Rich but still for 2 days work its a brilliant finish for the price.
So it he was in a unit doing this then the price would have doubled???

That does look great Ben but I paid half the price for the same level of work.
Thats probably due to the fact he works from home tho as Rich stated.

No not at all, the insurance is the expensive bit. Having said that, a unit isn't just rent and business rates, you need various other insurance policies on top as well for having the unit. All those need to be taken into account.
I don't have a unit and don't use thousand pound waxes, hence I don't charge as much as PB and other big names. But I do have all other associated / necessary insurance policies.

Sometimes some details take longer than others to achieve absolute perfection (or as close as).
Its not uncomon to spend up to 60+ hours working on a car if the owner wants that level of service.
If a 60 hourdetail was only £200 it would work out at £3.33 p/h.
Obviously as the price goes up, so does the input of man hours. Same as every job.
By the way, this detail on the Porsche would have been £295+ vat. Not all details are "£££££" as you put it.
For a detail of this quality, done by a reputable company who are fully insured i'd say thats a good deal.

I chose Matthew at Off your Marks because...
He had a great rep and was reccomended by alot of people including VXRMarc!!!
He was local
He had great premises
He was running an established business (insurance etc)
He was very helpful and knowledgable
He used the very best products
I got a courtesy car

I trusted martin tho as a friend not to damage the car and I knew he was good for it if the worse did happen.
Blukoo - thats not a bad price but for a glorified wash and wax all be it a very good one its expensive imo.
Each to there own I suppose.

Never treated yourself to an expensive haircut when you could get one down the road at the barbers for £6? Never bought an expansive pair of shoes when you could have made do with £8 Primark ones?
Never paid a little more cash for anything in return for a better quality service?
I fully understand why some people don't understand or appreciate detailing. Its the same as my dad still buying all his jeans @ Asda for £3 and him laughing at me for paying £30-40 in a different shop.
At the end of the day, i've got nicer jeans.

£1000 is rediculous. But if you'd gone to a pro detailers (and paid more) you probably could have got even better results.
