I have bought a new pair of front leathers, as other people have said my existing ones were letting the car down a bit. Today I have mostly been trying out leather conditioner called Gliptone. Now I'm not one to really detail cars. To be honest I find most car detailing dull and homosexual. But this stuff is IMMENSE.
Gliptone conditioner. A few coats of this, and your cracked, dry leather will loosen right up, cracks will fade and in most cases dissapear altogether. It's awesome, and about £7 a bottle off ebay. Buy some now.
I didn't fancy doing them in the cold, so kitchen it was for the day.
I'm very, very impressed. You dont even have to rub it in, just smear it on, let it soak in and then repeat. Unworn areas can be done in 2 coats, bolsters and bases need 5 or 6 + coats, but it only takes a couple of minutes per coat.
One 250ml bottle will go a long way.
In other news I've had the starter motor off and swapped, it was intermittantly refusing to turn over. It's now fine. My only other gremlin is the gear linkage, which I have a known-working one on the way early next week.

No, I was told by several sources it's a waste of money
They were clean anyway

Afternoon everyone. I'm pleased to say this car is roadworthy now, and it was just a single glitch thats been holding me up for so long.
The problem has been the gear linkage, I have tried several linkages without success, including ones off known-working Corsa F28's. So I took the decision to seek outside help. First off I needed a way of getting the car mobile...
I got this completely standard Vectra a few weeks back
As you can see it's been treated to a genuine Irmscher grille and some -35mm Eibach springs, which are so much nicer than the FK coilovers I had on my last Vectra C
It's got a detachable towbar which is a bonus, and...
3.2 V6 GSi engine
So, first thing I did after it was taxed, MOT'd and insured was a trip down to JADE motorsport near Northampton (run by JamieD off migweb)
New solomatic is the bizzle, so much better than the scouse made one I had before. It's actually very relaxing to tow with, just whack the cruise control at 55mph and sit back and relax
His workshop is a bit cluttered so we decided to just use the layby instead
Now what I had hoped was a simple case of tweaking the linkage or maybe re-welding it wasn't the case. Jamie went through things meticulously, checking the clearance of the linkage and operation to see where it was going wrong. Turns out my rear mount needed tweaking to bring it all into proper alignment for the linkage to work properly.
After a few hours in the sun, a sample of home made wine and a random walk through Raunds we cracked it, all done and dusted. The gearbox and gear stick have alignment holes you can drop things into to reset it to neutral.
Now selects all 7 gears perfectly. Massive thanks to Jamie / JADE and I will be returning soon
I got it home, swapped the wheels back over on the Vec (had a puncture!) and built the engine bay back up on the Corsa. I wanted to use this solid linkage bar to eliminate some of the flex in the linkage
...but it was such an arse I gave up for now. I'll wait till I can get it on a ramp. I couldn't use the boost pipe I bought off here either as I'm STILL waiting for Pagey to pull his finger out and send me the joiner pipe I paid for for this
Anyway, it's all back together and running/driving spot on. I even had the chance to go for a drive...
...up the drive lol. I got to top of 2nd gear before a squirrel ran out and nearly got squished. It pulled really well so I'm hoping it will be ok for the MOT I've got booked on Thursday!
Wish me luck!

Just got another pic of the finished bumper as well, with fogs in and in the process of being modified for the intercooler.

Well guys I fucked up here I think, my pre MOT checks were a bit sloppy, and I tended to assume I'd done things I hadn't!
All I did before driving it there was an oil and filter change, and a new sump plug/washer to stop a drip
All ready to go
You can't get quicker than a....
...Calibra turbo
On the ramp
It's failed on stupid little things, which I started doing today. For some reason the washer jets had't been re-connected when I swapped the bonnet, so that was first job. I fed through some new silicone pipe
Easiest way to feed this inside a bonnet skin is by winding a fat steel screw into the end of the silicone pipe, then using a magnet to guide it through the bonnet.
Other jobs need sorting are:
- 1x balljoint (I shall polybush the arms at same time)
- 1x headlight not fully secure
- Bumper not secure (is it fuck, it's fine!)
- Horn not working
- Electric mirrors not working (not a fail, but annoyed me on drive down)
- Tracking
On the plus side the re-test is free, and the car drives fine except some light scrubbage from it being too low

Ok today was photoshoot time for 4 of the many, many loves in my life
"The secretary"
"The wife"
"The mistress"
And one very special love of mine.
For those of you who've been living under a rock for the past 3 years, meet Boxxy. She's rocked the internet from top to bottom, made news headlines around the world and gotten a cult following. Her original videos had millions of hits until it was pulled. It's been re-hosted here...
YouTube - My name is Boxxy - The Original
In short she's an attractive, jailbait, emo, ADHD riddled girl. Love her or hate her I guess, she is our queen.
The remixes were epic, this being my favourite!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cqmYRz0yidM
She's since become something of a celebrity, an idol and a loathed attention-seeker, depending on your perspective.
So anyway, I've planned some photoshoots. I thought I'd do the first at home, then when it's MOT'd I'll get some new girls and new locations.
