You know what, I never thought I'd say it, but I agree with Steve
I love uprated brakes though, so I like them.

Weighing up these or the AP's TBH
The Alcons are supposed to be the better brakes, but having read a few things it seems getting hold of Alcon parts is a nightmare where as AP you can buy the bells/discs/pads seperately.
Might be worth spending another 100 quid and getting the AP's they do look better (not that should matter) as well as they have VXR logos on them

What about valver brakes? They were really good on my Corsa and can get them from the scrappy quite cheap.

Yeah mate, seen this brakes on the Astra are ok. But you start lapping a few times and they get hot and become useless.
I'm not going into this lightly, I've had to get permission from the boss to spend this kind of money

AP's deffo, stuff for alcons is silly money, the veins on the caliper are a couple of hundred quid themselves

I need to ring Thorney and have a discussion, I just never trust people although they are pushing the Alcon kit over the AP and the Alcon is cheaper so maybe I might get some honest answers.

What size discs do you have at the moment? Got 5.1 fluid?
Edit; was going to suggest looking at some Ksport calipers, but they don't list them for the Astra

No idea, standard ones. Braided lines, 5.1 fluid, 1144 pads.
I've gone as far as the standard brakes will go.

No, you haven't bought DS2500's
My mate has got those AP's on his VXR. He owns VXR Marcs old Burg. Seems to rate them and the car gets driven hard when he wants too. I'd go for AP's over Alcon, definetly.

Will deffo make a remarked difference!
Went from uprated 288 discs and Mintex 1144's in ATE caliper to Hi Spec 4 pots with Mintex 1144's again amazing difference.
Had DS2500's on my Clio which were more than enough for track use.....then got to drive Broster's Cup with 4 Pots and it litterally caused my organs to rattle around inside me!

I grafted the vectra 6 pot vxracing ap's with the 365 disks onto my mates astra. I meassured up and had the brackets made. They are awesome brakes. He had all the goodridge lines made to order for the front and rear. Its got a really good feel to the pedal considering its a std master cylinder

Got busy with the Corsa this morning, got fed up waiting for Halfords to get me the correct Connects2 steering wheel control lead so went to John Kleis in Reading and got everything I needed from him, good bloke should have got everything from there in the first place
Done some spraying as well
I also got busy with a steak knife and removed the old grille and fitted the new one

I didn't realise they even done a 6 pot kit for the Vectra, or was it just a generic kit that you grafted on for him?
