I'm based in chelmsford, companies outsource their IT maintenance to us. Each person here has x number of sites to watch over. Each site has at least 1 IT guy whether they work for us or not.

We then have "specialists" (I use the term loosely as I used to be one) that we can send out depending on the problem to help the guy on site or I connect from here and fix the issue.

Its probably the most boring job known to man. Some weeks its good, if I have a project on or starting something new at one of the sites, i'm busy and its great, but other times its essentially watching screens and getting weekly reports/daily reports and emailing them off to different companies.

I sit at my desk pretending to manage outsourced services which at the moment involves getting a text every 5 minutes to say the phones aren't working in Warrington

I do some work, and some NVQ stuff now, mostly play on my phone or browse the internet. i used to find that internet got in the way of work time, now work distrubs my internet time.
