You'd be disgraced at how bad a driver you were to blow it up after 23k.

seen plenty of stuffed m32s through a friends gearbox place, think its one of the main bearings that collapse and throw the mainshaft out of line which shears the teeth off the gears.
plenty of other shit gearboxes out there tho not just gm ones.

Probably most of them.
For reference dog leg gearbox, referring to the position of first gear, is not the same as a dog engagement gearbox which means the gears mesh together during a change instead of being lined up with a syncromesh.

But how come the M32 only seems to fail in the VXR and not the 150CDTi, which will have more torque than the VXR wont it (especially the mapped ones)? I mean I dont know and I CBA to look at Parkers, but surely its torque that kills gearboxes not power?

I worded that wrongly tbh, I didnt mean 'only', I meant majority of reported cases in the interwebs seem to be VXR's - could it be that if you have a VXR you are more likely to gun it everywhere and mod it and post about it on the internet whereas some yobbos will own the 150 but most of these people will be company car owners and dads?

I don't really want to blame the box for being poor, I've killed an F23 in the past and contributed to the death of a number of F25s, all as a younger man with less regard for mechanical sympathy.
My M32 is fine.

Yes all these coincidences of people having vxrs/cdti's that blew up yet no other threads about the other cars they have owned previously or since having blown up proves they can't drive tbh.
Probably didn't wait for the needles to bounce when they turned the ignition on shuttle discovery sorry vxr

Id bet that say 100k F20's have had a much harder life than 20-40k M32s,yet still going strong to this day.

Big eck had an F20, if he can't drive then it would have broken I'm guessing

Ive said it before, i dont think its to do with driving.
One lad I know hammers it to death (drives it like a 17 year old would drive a 1.2 corsa), and hasnt had a problem at all.
Another mate i know, just takes his time, alot of steady motorway miles, and his went. Total luck i think.

Mine was at 23k when it went, and I can drive I like to think. Have had over 50 cars and this was the first box I've ever had go on me.
Randonly its the only car I've owned thats had an easy life, used to give my Cavaliers etc dogs abus and never had an issue.
