Went back round to lil_g's house today to grab the rest of the bits for the conversion..
spark plug cover and the loom..

and also because i pretty much brought the whole shell from him, he let me have a few other things from the corsa ...

tinted side reps

some gauges for the oil temp and pressure

chrome strut brace, got that fitted straight away!

and also fitted the side reps today.

Still didnt get round 2 getting the redtop out the back of the car lol. I'l prob end up stripping it down at work tomorrow to make it lighter, and then lift it out with a few friends. Also went to remove the chip and transponder.... but it didnt have 1 lol. Greg said its because its the older type engine it didnt have them fitted weird... but makes it easier for me when i come 2 converting it

i was actually really tempted to leave the extrerior as it is. Would be such a great sleeper but it would be a crime not 2 get these speedlines sprayed and fitted!!!
yeah extrerior plans are
fit antracite speedlines
drop the rear 100mm
front coilovers
slated grill
debadge
and thats about it....
if i keep the car for a loing time and have some money to blow, then i might consider a mint gsi kit and a carbon bonnet. Other than that, il just tidy it up, keep it clean and enjoy it

I had a look at the induction pipe that comes off the throttle body on the redtop. It had blue gunk on it and was split quite badly. It also had a ford's induction pipe that connected to the afm and induction kit which i wasnt too keen on... So i decided to go to the scrap yard to grab a newer 1 off a veccy. heres a pic of the old ford 1...

and heres the new 1 from the vectra, this way i can run a standard airbox

pay days just arrived aswell.. so il be removing the tyres from the speedlines on monday at work and sending them off for powder coating in anthracite

might actually get round to cleaning the redtop tomorrow aswell

haha cheers mate! I'l try 2 make as many updates as i can. Always forgetting my camera when i go 2 work on it though which is why i aint got a decent pic of the engine yet lol. Stripped the engine and gearbox down now. Cleaned up the mounts and loom today at work, and should be cleaning down the gearbox and inlet manifold at work tomorrow ready for a lick of paint 8-)

Thanks mate, im hoping so too Yeah thats weird, i just assumed it had a transponder and chip for some reason. Oh well, made it easier for me! Im guessing that the 20xe head and block are exactly the same as the c20xe then ? :S the only difference being the loom, ecu and a few sensors ?

Pictures of the engine and box. Also to confirm, it definatly is a f16 gear box!
Cleaned down the gearbox a little bit tonight.
Left to do/buy until i convert it into the corsa

New radiator (The 1 that the redtop came with was pretty damaged, didnt look to great)
Buy bottom gear box plate
New service parts
Exhaust, Inlet and cam cover gaskets
Paint mounts and brackets etc

Ordered a slated grill from the bay aswell last night

Brought a slated grill off ebay this week, got it fitted the day it arrived:

Drove down to 'BJV alloy wheel refurbishing' on the weekend as recomended by 'seanxe'.. and sent my speedlines off for a refurb and powder coating in anthracite. I had a look at some of the finished examples while at the body shop n couldnt believe the quality! So i cant wait to pick them up next saturday to see how theyve turned out.

In the mean time with the redtop, everythings cleaned up now and ready to be fitted. Just need to paint the mounts and find the time to convert it...
