The good thing about the Astra last year was that I felt totally at home in it, and trusted that it would do everything as I predicted, so I was comfident pushing it to the limit( and sometimes past ).
This year I should have the same peak power as last year, but hope for a slight increase at the high end of the rew range, due to the airbox and turbo inlet modification's.
Handling wise I hope that I can find the same sweet spot as last year, but only a lot of testing will show if I can get all the mods to work, together with the new tyres

Toyo are no longer supplying TA. Its Pirelli road based tyres this year P-Zeros I believe, although there is a choice depending on wheel size. It will make it interesting.

These new Pirelli road tyres must be quite something. Aren't the organisers saying they're within 1 second of R888s...

its not the same tyres as you buy from quick fit for example. They are the OE tyres for high end cars (Lambos, Mercs etc)
Still - I want to test them first hand

Appreciate that mate, but I'll still be amazed if the fancy pants oem rubber from the GTR/GT2RS etc is within 1s of a good monoblock.
Contact patch is smaller, compound surely has to be harder and heat management should be poorer with the extra grooves they have over R888s.

Pirelli ones, that take on more of a performance road tyre pattern rather than a cut slick
be intrested to see if this was an attempt to slow the cars down for safety reasons

I'd imagine that companies that sell the road legal slicks won't be amused but the new rules, if there is just a sec difference then all that extra money for something like r888's would have just been a waste of money.
