Should be given the choice tbh.

Enforcing yet another thing with legislation is just a band aid on a problem.

I'd disagree with that too, but without actual figures (which would be very difficult to obtain) it is hard to say! There are a lot more smokers after hours I'll give you that.

I should be allowed to carry a gun too, but I'm not Jamborine Some laws are there to protect the innocent (and non smokers)

I'll be dead long before then. An RTI or Liver disease will take me first.

The intention is good. But as I said, more rules forced upon the people without any kind of referendum etc. May be smoking this time but give them the power and we will all be V for Vendetta in this morherfucker

id agree with a ban during certain hours, i dont smoke when people are eating i think thats a bit inconsiderate. and when kids are allowed in again its a no no, i dont smoke in front of kids because of how impressionable they are.
but when im in my local on a friday night we always end up outside at the same time having a fag, and when we do there may be 1 or 2 people left in the vaults

It's got nothing to do with the argument, a pub is private property you have no 'right' to be on. You have the choice to go elsewhere. If I walk up to a gay bar I have the choice to go in or not. I'm not going to walk in then complain about it stinking of poppers.

no they got very veyr badly by the smoking ban all pubs did. they also incurred huge costs in refitting pubs to get rid of the smells and to turn themselves in gastro pubs and fit out gardens to accomodate smokers

all pubs didn't get hit badly. As a shift manager handling the cash everyshift I can safely say that the town centre pub I was working in has increased sales in both food and wet in the coming weeks/months after the ban. And from talking to other pub managers/the area managers, other pubs also had no decline. As for huge costs, from what I recall, we got a company in on an overnighter to professionally clean the carpets/upholstery, which was few hours work and cost couple hundred. Spoons now is turning over record profits, so much so that they're aiming to open on average 5 more pubs per month I think it is. From a meeting with the customer services manager last week, he was saying each pub is targetted to take at least £45k per week, most manage. Pub industry definately isn't dead from the smoking ban.

Smokers can still smoke inside with the electronic fag.

but they'd rather kill people.

That's what it's all about, killing for fun and blaming it on the victims.

Nice not having your clothes stink whenever you nip down the pub though

yeah, and nice not to get cancer from selfish murderers

Who forced you into a smokey pub

It never bothered me that your clothes stink when you get back from the pub... they get washed when I've worn them, so what's the big deal?

I agree that people may want smoke free places and that's fine... but why give pubs and clubs the freedom of choosing to opt in or opt out of the smoking ban? Then the customers can choose to be in a smokey environment or not.

Despite being a non-smoker, I would still choose to go into the pubs that allowed it.
