If you on about my comment Ian, they cant.
Ive had first hand experience at it when i was younger. My mum was told by a teacher, might of even of been the headmaster that they are not allowed to do it. They might give the student a plaster for them to put on themselves but they would never let teachers do it.

you cant, one of my family members works in a first school and kid was being a little tearaway and walking off the premises and the teachers had to call the parents as they were not allowed to restrain the child or physcially stop them leaving, its ridiculous
