i thought the exact same when i saw the price, far few just shy of 4k,

know what your saying my next suggestion would be a 205 with a 2.0 8v turbo engine, cam, turbo will see you just shy off 200bhp, bit management will see more,
had plenty experience building striping and using a fair few different spec'd one off these, easy fixed, plenty parts etc barrels of fun!

I would keep it NA in a small light car though. keeps it cheap and more then enough poke for a light track car

205's are epic though if you can find a good un. Plus it will probably already have a cage etc in it by now

Shame it got scrapped in the end

Can get a good VTS for about a 1000, then it wont take much to get it ready for some track action. Definatly the cheapest option and they are very easy to work on

How come it got scrapped?

Def between a Clio or a Saxo/106 now I think! Like the Honda idea but they seem pretty dear in comparison and Im guessing parts will be more expensive!

Could have bought a new wing and door but after stripping down it was going rusty underneath.

Split for parts and made just shy of 3k in bits so in the end

Why go for something, older, rarer, slower and harder to get parts for than a 106 or clio?

You missed out completly shite

because they are cheaper, and easy to turbo, standard they are 7.8s 0-60mph, in second gear..

Plenty of parts about, stand 200bhp on standard internals(forged crank and pistons as standard).

exclusive and stand out, more interesting than a clio.

Clio does 0-60 in 6.7

They are more common, thus making parts easier to source.

They are easy to turbo/charge with off the shelf kits and will handle 250bhp on standard internals.

And more interesting than a Swift.

Buy the right one, like the one I showed, and it'll want for nothing. Utterly brilliant handling cars. Sound the tits (not to everyone I suppose), and will run forever.

Are they though? Same car as the Subaru Justy, which came in 4wd, the 1.6 16v engine is brilliant (as is the 1.3 16v) and with a turbo they make 220bhp easily. That'd be a cool little car.

Did you not read the first post? 2 main bits were

' track car would scratch the itch for a while'
'3k max'

Which to me sounds like he wants a cheap bit of fun, he could potentially sell on in a years time and not loose out too much. I bet theres 10x more second hand performance parts on ebay for a Clio 172 than the swift, theres probably 100x more standard parts for sale too.

If its a long term project get something different, I did!
If its just for a short while and you want some fun, buy something common.

I have spent around 2.5k since June on mine, yet its still probably only just on par with a standard clio (although almost 1k was on seats and harnesses)

Not too hard, there's a few around.

Manifold, Td04L turbo and some sort of management (a few around if you google it, already with looms) 200bhp or so can be done on standard internals as said above.

the 1.3 is the better bet tbh.

why is the 1.3 better?
and it has forged internals?
and talking circa 1997 - 2001 models/.

will the transmission and drivetrian take the power?
