i just sold on some 16' bbs RM's they had some funky adaptors that used the same 'position' on the adaptor shall i say?
basically they had 4x100 to 5x120 and a metal insert where the 5th bolt would be, it was just a cylinder of metal, threaded bolt to the hub, and then a wheelnut screwed into the same cylinder of metal for the conversion...cant for life of me remember what they call the adaptors though
G23 engineering on edition38 or mail this guy gar.thoms@hotmail.co.uk hes about 180 bucks a set

Quite sure you can't share a hole if the PCD is different for each set of wheels.

Glad there's some agreement, was racking my brains over it earlier and even resorted to trying different designs and animating them

How about it doesn't use same holes but has studs. Must be safe?

That is the usual practice, use the space between the fixing to the hub for the fixing to the wheel.
Problem is you can't do that as well if they don't have have the name number of holes.
Although if you are going 50mm+ wide you've got more metal to play with.

One of the studs would interfere with a bolt hole if you used that sort of design on a 4 to 5 conversion

Not really, they're not forced to overlap are they?
Can you design it in such a way so that nothing is common? The larger second circle should help you out a bit.

When I tried to do it that way for this application, one stud ended up overlapping one of the bolt holes. Just wouldn't work

Whats wrong with the style that bolt onto the hub (well disc), then the wheel bolts onto the adaptor

normally on these, one of the adapter bolts is abou 20/25mm wide at the head and has a threaded hole in it that matches up with the wheel pcd once its been tightened up

Because on that application the holes are too close, check ed's reply.

Common practice with odd wheel fitments seems to be to use more than one set of adaptors.
ie - 4x100 - 5x130 - 5x114.3 to eliminate any interferance.
With 50-60mm to play with, that should be possible and solve the problem.

Good shout because the middle adapter is large enough to miss the other two.
Glad I'm not driving this thing when its done though

SolidWorks.

I'd assume it would need dynamic balancing.
