And the GAME & Gamestation in Reading are practically opposite each other as well.
Ollie, when were you last in Reading? Gamestations on Broad Street and Game is downstairs in the Oracle Has been for a while now.
Though like you say Tesco/Amazon are cheaper and both far more convenient.

Digital downloads - yes of course. When the infrastructure is ready.
There are already lots of people to whom an 8Gb download doesn't seem much, particularly if they work on scheduling the downloads.
Although as soon as you can stream video fast enough that will remove the need to download the game completely. That's more likely to become the new paradigm. Also cuts out piracy overnight.
And yes, retail is dead.

I agree that the broadband system in this country isn't yet completely up to downloading games. We have an 8mb line and it took a while to download a ~500MB update for LBP2 the other day, a whole game will literally take all day. We can't get cable here so no chance of these fancy 50mb connections

It' was just a generalization of how they operate, most of their deals aren't deals at all, just people thinking it's a good price based seeing 15% off etc.
Obviously your 67% is good but with 67% off it's £2 cheaper then zavvi, kind of obvious they have stupidly high prices in the first place.
Did you get "The Missing Link" DLC with that ?
I got mine from zavvi about 2 months ago for £11.95 posted and it had the DLC with it.
As for downloading games, I have 10mb here and will get 1.1 MBPS, will take about 2.5 hours for a 8gb game, helps if they are packed and need extracting then you just let the cpu do the work and not the connection so much.

I have been boycotting GAME for years now as they are crap. Refuse to price match their own website or any stores near them etc.
They have the attitude that they are too big to have to try and compete with others so they don't even try!

So much cheaper to order anything online, i pissed the local GAME store off by buying about a 100 Flaming skull codes for Halo and they started selling on eBay for £20 each! fair to say they started to clock on after a while
Not too bad though a friend works in GAME and he sometimes gets games early for me cheap/free got me Gears 3 2 weeks early which was decent.

Their range of games is poor. I rarely find anything in there I want. They'll possibly have a top 15 games, but anything prior to that will be a preowned copy. Moast likely with a smashed case, sticky substances on the cover etc.
No thanks...

Everything on the high street other than stores that sell everything will be a thing of the past.
Bird at the post office gets pissed off when I walk in with 10-15 packets for posting everyday because I've printed off my own pre-postage labels meaning no money goes into their post office.
Yeah OK, so I'll stand in a queue, holding everyone up for 30 mins whilst you sort them all out and sticker them up then fanny about with a load of change just so your post office can get 10p. OR I'll do it on the internet because its cheaper, easier and more convenient.

i had an arguement with GAME a few years back and told them i would ruin their reputation as much as possible.
A few years later and i feel quite happy that they are struggling now

I'm hoping to get a cheap slim PS3 when they go bust. Think I'm a bit optimistic though.
