Buy my spesh, I'll even bring it up on the train for you I want a new bike! I really can't afford it, but if I sell all my bikes I can afford a really nice bike right?

50 windy and hilly miles yesterday. Its quite good living close to the New Forest, quite roads etc but on the flip side some pretty nasty hills.

Hills are not my thing. Fancy myself as more of a sprinter

Has anyone done any road racing. Been looking into it today, thinking about giving it a go.

Was my intention to have a go this year, I'm not really doing enough training having only just got over my knee injury, may wait til next year to venture into it. Did a little sprint the other day and it killed me

Ive been looking into it. Seems my first step will be to join British Cycling so I can get access to a race licence. Im keep to give it a go but also worried it might reveal me to be not as good as I think I am

A 6 speed? What on earth is it? What's your budget, there's some good deals to be had on last years models at the moment.
Jamie I made the mistake of joining British cycling towards the end of last year, got my license and now it's already expired doh!

Tbh I would be looking at about 300 at least for something even a little decent - perhaps a carerra Tdf from halfrauds or see what can be had for similar money in eBay. Never even heard of the components on that!

Not too bad, its made me buy a new saddle though. Arse was buggered half way!

It took just over 9.5 hours, I have no idea if this time is decent and I wasn't pushing myself in any way, just chilling listening to lots of music. Stopped 3 times for around 10 mins, for food etc. I didn't even plan for it, I was ready to turn back after 35 miles and then said to myself i'll get to the 50!

What that time like walbs? What did you do yours in?

I can do 100 miles in 7-7 1/2 hours. Pan flat just over 6 last years but that hurt a bit.

Fair enough, pretty shit time then.

That was on a mountain bike though, i reckon 8 would be a realistic time if I set out to do it rather than do it on a spur of the moment.
