Well there's been a hell of a lot of progress in the last week and............. the tank is now up and running!!! If you want to see all of the pics then just look at the thread on UltimateReef, but here are a few to keep you going :-)

Pre-filling loads of containers with warm salty water ready for the fill.

Aquarium computer for monitoring and controlling all of the equipment set up properly in the garage. Just to the right of that is the new touch screen control panel that will eventually be mounted in the wall above or below the tank in the house so I can keep an eye on all the bits in the garage.

Close up of the display

One of the guys from SouthWest Marines arranging the rockwork

Plumbing almost finished...

The finished rock work

The first of the water going in :-)

...and we have circulation from house to garage and back!

10 mins after first start-up

and the following morning

I had a spare 4' halide light in the garage so I've stuck that over the tank until the rest of the stock comes down next week

and the first of the fish are in!

I've got a pistol shrimp and a cleaner shrimp in my old tank at the moment so they will both be coming along soon, but I don't think I will have any more in there. I am seriously considering having a peacock mantis shrimp in the sump though cos I think they are amazing!

I hope my other half doesn't find this message but yeah, I added up the total bill the other night I'm at £11,420 at the moment on things thar I've bought specifically for this tank, so that doesn't include fish, corals or live rock that will be coming from my old tank. The new LED lighting unit I want to get is another £3000 ish too so total bill will e around the £15k Mark :-s. Then again, this is a hobby I get a huge amount of enjoyment out of and the tank and fish will last for years, so it's all un perspective I guess

I've boxed in the pillars now with some MDF as a temporary thing until we get the slate tiles, but we can't do those until we've put down the hardwood floor on the whole ground floor of the house :-( Still, it's looking better!

Partly luck, yeah, but some people either have acrylic tanks or silicone in an additional layer of acrylic to the glass bottom of the tank for extra protection :-)
