my understanding is that with land rovers, anything goes in anything with the right adaptations (the bays are huge)
My dad has a disco engine (with turbo removed) in a '68 and it just went straight in

Tdv6 into disco 1 is the future there.

I reckon the ZLET thing would be a good starter.

Duratec into Puma/Fiesta too Ian, do a bit of research, if you can do an M-tek style fitting kit, you've got it sewn up as like you say, Puma engines are getting scarce, Mondeo engines are not....

Vts for sure. go on sax-p and see how many threads about vts conversions there are, theyre almost hourly.
Saxo's have chocolate gearboxes too so if you've got a collection of them from the cars you break you've got an earner there

Actually, I missed the point here.

What you really need is Z12XE engines, if the chain goes, most people buy another engine, so get a shed full of them and you're sorted.

If you buy running cars which are a bit rough, pull the engine out, stick that on eBay, then advertise the shell as 'ideal for z20let conversion' and sell them one of your ZLETs too!

The cars are normally tidy but they'll all be either cat C or D.

What I'm after doing is selling everything via word of mouth on forums, doing fairly well on the Fiesta ones now as I'm a bit more involved in the community.

Not sure I could do something like that for the Z12XE, I'd be punting them about on Ebay which I don't love, too many weirdos, too easy to get bad feedback which kills it and far too expensive.

Found a few useful threads, probably is Saxo VTS are even more rare than Pumas as salvage!

Break corrados, good money in it and prices for complete cars with faults are quite low now.

Some of the parts get silly money, I just paid nearly £60 for one bit of interior plastic as there was no other option and a few people were bidding.

As said the mi16, GTi6 or V6 into 205/309 is always pretty simple and surprisingly easy to get hold of still. Failing that i've seen a couple of Honda B & K series engines into 205/309s although the K series engines aren't that cheap yet.

I think saab engines would be a good one. Can pick up a full running. Ar for around £400. I also agree with landrovers, even mk1 discos, can pick up mot failures cheap and usually just selling the engine alone will cover what you paid for the car. I have done 6 of them now all 200/300 tdi's, wouldnt bother with a v8 unless its modded or has LPG and is reallly cheap. So making loom adaptors etc would be good if you had time but probly not a huge money maker.

Not forgetting being able to use a honda crv bottom end as its a high compression block which will produce alot more power with a b16/b18 head rather than the stock b16/b18/b20 engine. Fucking love honda's recently.

All e36 beemers are pretty much bolt in jobbies. Cheap enough too.

1.8t's in mk1/mk2 golfs are easy enough.

Z20let/h into a corsa d could be a good kick off maybe? Cant see it being too difficult

putting the 172/182 engines into smaller spec clios

The possibilites are endless really, just depends on what parts you can get your hands on for the right prices at the time of looking for them. And then finding customers who want those certain swaps
