We got woken up at 6 by what seemed like a bloody hurricane, it has the loudest and longest thunder I've ever heard.
There is now flood warnings all over Scotland.

As said Pile foundations.
Daily mail said its foundations had been washed away, which is actually wrong as we can see, as the foundations are the only thing holding it up!

The piles will partly rely on the ground around them for support. If they are friction piles then they definitely will rely on the ground around them!

I was woken at 5 by the sound of the rain, then the thunder and lightning came which kept me awake.

Residents of the stricken flats - who were previously been evacuated - were told last night that their homes would soon be lost as engineers confirmed that 'plans were being put in place' for the demolition of the block.
'Since the culvert collapse, we have been working very hard to resolve what is an extremely complex engineering problem, given that the culvert lies 12 metres below ground, and the land itself is proving to be highly unstable.
