I got mine for 175 quid posted with the convertor. Price seems to be around 190-200 normally but I haggled a bit!

Getting the mileage changed cost me another £50.

I've not forgotten those lights btw Barnshaw, I couldn't get hold of a polisher this week but will hopefully sort them early next week.

Just picked the car up after 3 or so days of being detailed by Mike @ Deeper Detail.

I'm very impressed with the results of a real life detailer in the flesh, the car has come up a treat.

First of all - the "rough patches" I reported at the start of this project thread are completely gone - and the car is smooth and glossy all the way around, so I'm very relieved with that!

Mike however uncovered that the bonnet has most definately had paintwork in the past and he said it was extremely difficult to work with - very hard clear coat and even his most aggressive compounds failed to make an impression.

Regardless the bonnet is still VERY shiney and glossy to my untrained eye but he genuinely sounded dissapointed with the results on the bonnet, and told me I can go back for some more aggressive treatment in the future if I feel I need it.

I'm hoping Mike took some photographs of the process (I forgot to ask!), as I collected the car in the dark and only got a few iphone photos inside the garage it had been worked on - but I'll hopefully get some sunny day pictures at the weekend providing it stays clean and dry between now and then.

On another note, the owner of the garage in which Mike does his detailing has got an Escort Cosworth (you can see the very car here: http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=271735) and it was parked up next to my Scoob when I went in - it's bloody gorgeous and has been pretty much rebuilt from the ground up apparently.

The owner reckons it's still on the same tank of fuel that he bought it with.... three years ago

Apparently both the garage owner and Mike have spent the week looking at Scoobies on Pistonheads after seeing mine, which makes me feel proud I also took Mike out for a wee spin when I collected the car, and I'm pretty sure the car made a good impression

So there goes another job ticked off the list, I'll get some pictures up at the weekend. Promise!

Didn't think of that!

Mike has confirmed he did indeed take pictures, and he's got them all on a CD for me - I'll pick them up at the weekend

Somehow my old "less than mint condition" headlights have just sold on eBay for £210.

I was honest in the advert about the wear/tear and missing bit of rubber trim - but they bidders kept on bidding!

I've celebrated this victory by ordering a rear "STi" badge in pink, so if it's more than 0 degrees at the weekend I may drag the missus' hairdryer outside for some debadging.

Last time I debadged a car, it was 2005 and I lost patience with the hairdryer on my 12v Corsa so took to my "breeze" badge with a flathead screwdriver instead

Mike gave me a CD full of photographs today which he took during the detail.

I've uploaded them all to an album here:

A few choice ones:

I've got no idea what this means...

A good shot to show the general state of the swirls on the car

But an after shot on the same panel

Moody!

Once he gets time, Mike said he'll do a write-up for detailing world which I'm looking forward to so I can understand exactly what he did etc.

Cheers gents.

Gareth the STi Blobeye (like mine) can be had from £6k up now.

I paid £8k for mine as it's quite a low miler and it was clean/relatively unmodified.

It's a crazy amount of car for the money, imo.
