I've thought about this many times, and the answer is we all have tempers just some poeple's are worse, for instance i would knock the fooker right out, but whats to say he didn't even know it was your girlfriend for all he knew she was single. If i saw it happen when the girlfiend was out on her I own i would watch her reaction first, if she was luvin it then i'd have a word with her (and bin her off  ) but if she wasn't luvin it (which would hopefully be the case) i would knock them out.
But yeah as Keiran said you have to watch yourselves I been in different situations not just to do with girls and ended up in far too many ruts for little things.
For instance I was out with gf and her bro etc, we were walking down wood street and all i saw was my gf's bro get digged, gf ran Over I thought right i'll leave it to see if it gets sorted then saw sum lad push my gf, so i stormed over knocked 2 of them right out, gf got bottled by this same lad so I give him a few swift digs then he latched himself onto my face where i now have a nice scar, my gf is now a bit jittery bout going out to town.
I don't know if people would see the sense in what I did but I wasn't seeing my gf getting pushed around it just aint on.

I think its such a small thing to get worked up over. At the end of the day my girlfriend loves me and i know that.
As for the bottle incident, Sorry i did not read this. As for what i would do: I wouldnt go in fists flying, I would just defend myself and gf and try and get away. My main concern would be my girlfriends safety not kicking the sh!t out of them.
