Theres loads to buy in gta story mode. If you complete the game without buying and selling stocks then you wont have enough money to buy everything. Do it with the stocks and youll have way more than enough.

That happens all the fucking time!

Once I decide to do the story this happens:
"I'll just climb this tower before I start the mission... Oh look, a shanty! I'll just grab this shard as well. Well, I'm right next to another tower now, might as well climb that..."
Rinse and repeat.

My point was more that I spent that time not getting any further in the story mode

And its clearly 2 hours and 25 minutes. Retard.

I tried to sneak past a couple of Man 'O' War ships yesterday. Didn't end well.

you can only do it if they're not part of a mission. If its a mission or Naval Contract, I swam to one, killed everyone and then went back to the jackdaw and everyone respawned on the target vessel. Works in world mode though but tbf, once the Jackdaw is fully upgraded, they're easy to beat anyway.

Seems that finding materials to do so takes forever, though. Need 500 iron to make the next hull and broadside upgrade and I have 83.

Every time I locate a ship with a substantial cargo, it seems there's 5 of them in the same location and I get raped.

I need to get into some of the non-mission stuff really.

I did the same with Mass Effect 2, tunnel visioned the mission and ended up with a terrible ship and crew, played it through again a year later and spent time getting "distracted" and enjoyed it so much more.

I shall make it my objective at the weekend to pimp out my ship.

South side of the islands are where the best ships to loot are, also warehouse missions and locating naval drops is a good way of finding stuff.

I'm not on Xbox live so cant do any of the fleet missions which in turn means I can't get the final upgrade or the white whaleskin (without buying it) which is a bit of a nuisance but meh, not the end of the world.

once you kill a ship but before you raid it, it will sit there highlighted quite merrily whilst you attack all of the other ships; then either sink them which allows you to loot half the cargo or board them and raid all the cargo. Its also worth hitting all of the sea defences and underwater locations as there are plenty of high value chests and missions there.

The fleet is an easy way to make good money.

Haven't done more than one of the warehouses, didn't realise they gave you anything but money. Will do some of those tonight.

Looks like the one in Tortuga has the most wood and metal.

I just spent a night (and I mean a night, ran into far longer than I should have) sailing around raiding fleets to get all the materials required. Everytime I had enough, I'd upgrade to make the next lot of attacks that bit easier - also, use the mortars from a distance to start the damage early, then ram them before broadside and swivel attacks seems to be the quickest way of dispatching an enemy.

I was lucky though, I got caught in a storm to the South East and after a rogue wave, lightning hit 5 ships directly around me so I raided all of those.

Stuck on 41% atm, hardly upgraded my ship and keep getting blown up by a ship on a mission, aint played it for days as its got abit boring keep plundering ships for cargos to upgrade, prefer walking around doing mission tbf and aint a fan of the pirate/ship part.

63% story, 43% total so far.

Plowing through the story right now, then I'll go back and do all the assassinations and other side missions.

Bought the best weapons and almost fully upgraded the ship, except for all the elite parts.

I've spent some 20 hours so far.
