Wish the paint was that decent on mine....
How are the front turrets, if you look up from underneath? Mine were on the way out

It's just a shame the paint has gone on the roof as that's really the only major let down
Front turrets are okay from what I remember. Only really nasty bit's are the rear arch, rear panel and chassis legs (as expected).
Hoping to get it back to being a nice solid shell over the next few months

Picked up a few new bits for this recently on here, new interior so I can hopefully make one good one out of two and a nice condition 3 bar GSi steering wheel to replace the airbag one.
Plan now is to get the welding done once I find a reasonably priced mig locally, get the arch panel fitted and painted and paint the roof, want to get it on the road for next summer then while I'm using it save up for the full repaint etc.

You had any brake cleaner around the hissy bits yet?

No brake cleaner as I didn't have any knocking about, had a good look / listen though and it's definitely coming from the right side of the head / inlet. Couldn't do much investigation as I haven't got all my tools here yet.
Thought it was the vac pipe initially but can't feel any air escaping

Pulled the top half of the inlet off today and confirmed that the joining pipe / donut piece has a big split in - will get a new one ordered tomorrrow and hopefully in a few days it will be running nice and smooth

Finally got around to fitting my non airbag steering wheel (not a fan of the airbag wheel at all)

Finally got around to fitting the new bits, after struggling to start it due to a knackered battery, jumped it off the TT and it fired up
Ran fine and no more up and down on idle, just nicely ticking over.
Doesn't look great but part of the plan for getting it running properly was to route all the pipework that was all running everywhere in the correct place (as far as I can tell - looks better anyway).

I think the next job is to get hold of a mig and start getting it welded up. Haven't welded for 10 years though so need a little practice
Bit cold out now though, need to get some warm weather to keep the enthusiasm up. Main reason for getting it running now was I need to service my TT and want to use the garage

Non-airbag wheel looks well better.
Also need to ditch the control box under the ash tray so you can have a cubby hole there instead of the flat top with the control box under it.
