My 225 TT is great on fuel.

My two previous 1.8T's weren't bad either tbh (S3's).

Without the added weight of the quattro stuff I imagine the Golf would be even better.

No I don't mind that at all, I just have to remind myself that someone who doesn't possess the intelligence to even kill himself is trying to mug me off in front of the Internet.

Wasn't a lack of intelligence? Lack of paracetamol really. But I don't need to mug you off. You're a man who is near enough (or are?) in your 30's and still live with your parents. Add the toy helicopters, the absolute nonsense you spout (that's normally pish), and your fascination with young women and you just about manage to make a twat of yourself without anyone's help

My old LCR was a bit greedy on fuel around town managing 25mpg usually. On a run tho it would see 33+mpg.

Strangely my mk2 Leon is better on fuel and has 100bhp more lol.

I can get 35-40mpg on a decent run with my Golf after it was mapped, struggled to get over 30 when standard.

Should be able to get a decent one for 3.5k even 25th anniversary GTIs are 3-4k now

Yes! Great excuse to get it mapped then. Still had no reply from admin at mk4 forum. I think we take Ian for granted on here.

Cheers lads im happy with it. It made the 2 hour journey home which is a good start! Bodywork has no marks. Could do with beng a tad lower and I'll probbably change wheels in the long run but its looking like an ideal base to start from.

this is what i was thinking, and to change the bss, bilsteins and konis for cheap heavy knockoff alloys and horrible crashy coilovers would be madness.

lets hope we're wrong!
