Current rumour is that it'll be under the home button if Apple do add one and if that's the case, then it'll be a bit of a one-trick pony unfortunately

Where will they fit a fingerprint sensor in? I can't believe even a post jobs Apple would do that.
It has to be part of the screen or nothing else IMO.

Point was, there's no real innovation there.
Granted it's been done before (Googling reveals AU Optronics managed to it on a 2.8" LCD in '08) but the real innovation (it's going to be no mean feat) will be upscaling that to embed the fingerprint sensor into covering the whole 4" display, that way it turns it from a one-trick afterthought to something that is actually useful on multiple levels

One of the issues with using fingerprint sensors, that and damaging the reference finger/fingerprint.

Yup - that's a huge problem. I had it on my laptop where I used it but when building the extension, the sand and mortor stripped any fingerprint i had and I had to revert back to old passwords.
I suspect it will be the same. It will always have a password fall back capability.
From the reports I have heard it will be embedded into the home button rather than the screen.

Doubt the home button is big enough to properly read a fingerprint.
Also these are the photos of the 'purported' scanner, looks like its to the left of the home button...

Shame if that's the case.
Anyone know when Samsung have their next big release?

Should be a new Nexus out imminently.
A possible candidate was spotted in a couple of kitkat unveiling vids, which were quickly pulled.

Yep looks massive. Are they going to make it 5" with it being the Nexus 5? Or is it the Nexus 4 2?

Should just call it nexus, the tablet products will probably always be easier to define by screen size.

How safe is it to buy an iPad just now? Fear of something newer being announced next week...

It's perfectly safe to buy one, not aware of iPads exploding in your hands or anything else unsafe.

Is it not normally a while after it's announced that you can actually buy it?
