As long as there was no recurrence of the wholesale money markets folding I would love to follow Ireland's economic lead.
Young, educated, workforce with low profits on tax = masses of big business.

lol smoke and mirrors, if the uk doesnt keep Scotland on sterling then the pound will fall
simply put imagine it like the euro if you will - scotland is germany england is greece well maybe not as severe but you get the jist lol! scotland is by far stronger! think in the last 30 years we have contributed £222billion more in tax revenues than the rest of the uk and our GDP works out as fiscal surplus whereas the rest of the UK's is a deficit to the tune of -3%
honestly see if westminster were just honest and said look cheers for all the cash over the years and were sorry for maggies oil and subsidy lies, but were a no bad team so you scrub my back il scrub yours etc then there might be a fair few more scots that thought aye ok then lets kiss and make up

Exceedingly well put.
It would also help if England wasn't quite so full of parasites, not meeting their tax obligations.

George Osbourne reminds of you a bit Steve, I could see him putting stickers on a Ford Puma on his Mum and Dads driveway and calling it a racing car.

May as well post it up mate, these pillars of Scottish society had swayed my previously unswayed opinion. If we end up as an independent nation I'm moving to Wales, England has started letting aw the fuckin' immangrents in. Innit.

Don't you go tarring us all with the same brush I do not wish to be a part of an independent Scotland, nor can I see it happening.

Scottish bank notes might as well be another currency as it is. Most people in England try to get rid of them ASAP if they end up with one

Alex Salmond is looking to be some new age first King of Scotland, he needs to take his head out of his arse.
No doubt he'll put some nationalist bullshit spin on today's outcomes of Osborne's speech about how it's more scaremongering. He's been constantly lying, dodging truths, pulling the wool over the nations' eyes and ultimately putting the notion of an independent Scotland before the general running of the country. The fact that the leader of a country can't honestly tell you what money you'll have in your wallet or purse after a referendum that's 8 months away is nothing short of atrocious.
The sooner this is all shelved and that shirker Salmond is ousted the better.

What Salmond wants to be is irrelevant, if Scotland were to become an independent nation he is then rendered useless. A Socialist party, be it a rehashed Labour or whatever, would instantly be voted in at the first opportunity.
Osbourne is scaremongering. The entire 'No' campaign is underpinned by just that hence they have no blueprint for what happens should there be a 'No' vote.
I'm on neither side but sending a silver spooned toff up to tell us we can't use pound coins isn't going to help the 'No' campaign in any way whatsoever.

I mean Salmond wants to be the guy associated with Scotland gaining independence. He'd be the guy in the history books and the arrogant bastard would love it.
It's not just the Tories who are speaking out. Labour and the lib dem shadow chancellors have spoken out saying they agree with Osborne's position.
The reason the government have no blueprint for an independent Scotland is because they aren't even entertaining the fact it'll happen. I hate the Tories as much as any other Scot but they're doing the right thing - they don't want independence so why should they be planning for it?
You talk about Labour then coming into power - where are Labour based as a political party? If you really think you wouldn't have influence still coming from Westminster you're dreaming. If an independent Scotland was a feasible option surely you'd have 3+ nationalist partys all wanting the same thing?
I don't know how you can claim that the currency won't change peoples' opinions. Any nationalist I know wants the pound kept. Who in the right mind would want to either start using the Euro just now or, even riskier, a new currency altogether? It was in the news in the last couple of weeks that Salmond has guaranteed big business leaders repayment of debts in pound sterling rather than any toy currency he might decide to try out.
There are a few advantages of independence. The disadvantages far outweigh them though.

No, genuinely. Basing my opinion on what they are doing now rather than what they may or may not have done before I was born.

The IoM hasn't disassociated itself with the UK in the manner that Mr Salmond wants to with Scotland though...
