yes its amazing, yeah maxton, front is ok but i wouldnt go for the rear, too flimsy, ill upgrade it to a carbon one soon.
also i have the topgear v10 f1 race exhaust, if you dont have any exhaust yet, it complete changes it. Next on my list is a remap but im currently doing a audio upgrade this week, pioneer ssetup with carplay and rear and front cameras...
any mods or plans for yours?

Loving the BM and the Audi! Sadly agree with SetH about the Merc though
Also seem to have failed at life. Cool cars!

What are they worth now? proper fucking
The Merc is a bit indian restuarant owner son for me but still a nice motor.
Another R8 owner on here
Lovely garage.
Clearly I have failed at life
mercedes comment made me chuckle! i bought that one stock and didnt put much into it. unfortunately the bmw isnt, its not even really a rep, i just never got round to taking the badges off and then lost interest in the car! its been sat in a garage for a year waiting to get a oil leak sorted.
R8 is the dream one though for me, always said id try and get one before i was 30, managed to do it this year with a few months to spare. was a big deal for me as one of my teachers really tormented me like a bully and promised myself i would prove him wrong and do something with my life and tick this off the list.
Lovely collection Will
Great to see how far people have come, I need to pull my finger out
Glad to hear you proving them wrong

I still can't believe after 26 years driving I have never owned a Golf Gti of any description!
Good luck with the Z20LET project, start a project thread?

They are nice little cars, very fast but also very over-engineered when you need to repair or replace something under the bonnet
For example, the engine has both a cam belt AND chain...
Yeah I'll put up a thread soon, need to get out and take some pics of the engine and that (well it's in pieces at the moment ).

Fuck knows. Definitely the case in the AXX engine in the mk5s, not sure if they've done the same thing in the newer shape Golfs.

I am not disputing it but why does it have both? it's a timing mechanism for the synchronising camshaft and crankshaft timing right? why would it need both? does it have two for redundancy?

Presumably the belt is used to run ancillaries, might just be that it runs around the cams as that gives you a pulley up the top so you have better purchase on the ancillary pulleys.

Suppose that is quite a clever idea if that is how it works. Although you could be cursing it when you come to work on it

The JLR 2.7 and 3.0 TD/SD V6 lumps have both belts and chains..
1 main belt on the front, then the heads both have internal chains, then there's another belt on the rear for the fuel pump.

I would have thought most chain driven engines have a separate aux belt to do PAS, Water Pump, alternator, aircon.
