lol. some of you lot chat such crap. a clio is not a bad handling car, it does go quick and the same for the pug. The clio is the car i personally would go for, but pugs r fantastic value 2nd hand, u can get a real goodun for bout 6k now with hardly ne miles. the clio is good value, but its so much newer, i woudl class it as the rich boys toy out the two.

Autocar tested the 106GTi 0-100 at 23.9s. They also tested the Clio 172 which was a just a bit faster at 17.9s!
I think thats a fair battering in anyones books. The Cup was 1 second faster.

steve's 106 does a 1/4 mile in 15.5 at 90 mph so ur tellin me that another 10mph takes 8.4 secs???
evo tested that vts and gti 0-100 times as being sub 20 secs (cant remember exact times as dont have mag to hand)

Theres no way it would be under 20 in standard trim. And you'd be suprised how long it takes to go from 90-100.
My BMW 328 does 0-100 in 18.9s and its much quicker than a 106 or a VTS when it gets into 3rd gear.

172 is fast in str8 line, but handling of 106 gti is so much better that it makes up for it around the track

1 second is a big gap for 1 lap. Think of it over a 20 lap race an its starting to get embarrising.

peugeot test their cars with 1 passenger and a certain amount of luggage, so thats where the 8.7 comes from.
think about it: how can a car thats exactly the same as a saxo vts, with same engine, power, torque, but is even a slight bit lighter, take longer to get to 60??
evo magazine independandly tested the gti against the vts and got 7.4 for the 0-60 figure, have a look at the figures in the back of an evo mag to check it for urself.

Did a 14.8 @ 97mph at USC in my 106 GTi and all I've done is
Decat, Full SS exhaust, 4-1 manifold and closed induction filter.
Beat a Saxo VTR on my 1st run, Civic Type-R on my 2nd and a Bug eyed
Impreza WRX on my 3rd.
Have raced 2 Clio 172's at Donnington and beaten them without too much of a problem... did however lose to a 172 Cup but there wasn't a huge deal of difference till 70mph and it started to pull strongly away from me. (Was a lot quicker than the Type-R I raced)

citroen tested theirs with just the driver in, peugeot test their cars with a driver, passenger, and a certain amount of luggage also (for lower ins grp )
7.4 was a time that evo magazine got when they road tested the vts and gti
depends who is in the car, the day of testing etc. autocar tested the 1106 as 8.0s to 60, no one else can get the forus RS as quick as evo. maybe they did a run on steve's road of choice
