1 u must be mega overfueling as not even an rx7 will do that little mileage to money unlessure bootin it at 180mph for all of them miles.

second.. did u even find out what u are buying!!!!!!!!! GET THAT OIL OUT OF THERE STRAIGHT AWAY. Use only Mineral oil in the rotary. u want castrol GTX 10w40 Mineral oil, do not use synthetic or even semi synthetic in a rotary.

3rd.. that looks like a 1992 car yes? if it is.. it isnt 280bhp that's for sure.

Matt

heres mine :

sitting on loverly endless zeal coilovers.
oh and i sold my drager that came with the car.. too quiet.

rotary engines dont need rebuilding every 30k, its more like 60-70 and a rotary rebuild is no where near as complex as a conventional engine, its only the rotar seals that wear out.

Correct, the average is 60k, some have gone to 100k, some have g one at 30k.. it all depends how they are looked after, what oil, what mods, how high performance etc..

Good on you son..... im beginning to like these RX7's now...... 92 is getting on a bit tho

just hope you are budgeting for the fuel (i spent about 650 in the 1st month on fuel), tyres were 300 a pop for rears.....

and an exhaust and 18's for 1500

18's maybe..... but a decent exhaust sys for it will be about 1k

run it on Optimax WITH octane booster.... just keeps things nice n clean and cool.... get the fueling looked at just to make sure..... dont want to melt plugs/pistons etc...

Change the oil every 3k,

look after the turbos..... 2 are more expensive than 1

take care, have fun

Ok mate, so yours being a 1993, will have only 255bhp. FACT.
Fully Synthetic... lol, who was this that told u that? ring up RE:WORX, ROTECHNICS, WGT, DS ENGINEERING all rotary specialists and will all tell you to you MINERAL OIL not synthetic.

Oh and as for calling me a no it all for having the car a few weeks, i have been reading and learning about RX7's MONTHS before i actually bought one and as it took around 10 weeks to get here (missed a boat etc..) i think i know a fair bit about them, certainly more then you.. MR my car has 280bhp and i plan on fucking the engine with fully synthetic oil.

Fair enough mate.. it's your wallet

Nismo mate, I think Matt is just trying to offer you advice so you rdon't fcuk up your new mota. I know Matt did a lot a research before buying his RX so would take his would for it when he says u need to run mineral oil. Don't just jump down his throat when all he is doing is tryingto help you out.

i did have a few moments.... like fishtailing at 80 alongside a BMW.... laughable now..... but at the time

best thing to do is find a nice big open car park or big quiet round-a-bout and just see what happens when it 'lets go' ....

mine was very unpredicatable before i removed the TC with TC off it seemed to step out spinning one wheel rather than both.... removed the TC system and i just lit both wheels up and was much more predicatble.... in a straight lin esp

yea i agree, i mean i thought the civic was quick, but it's nothing compared to this in RWD... I have yet to get a empty car park, but i'm working on the airport near me

What do RX7's boost up to std?
What can the standard ECU expand its fuel map too (thinking boostwise)?
what boost can the turbo's take?
Get an EGT gauge fitted
Get a oil/water temp gauge fitted
Get a good BoostGauge
If raisign the boost get a GOOD boostcontroller (apexi AVC-R or Blitz DSBC-R)
Let the car warm up, and down

Good advice from adam

Oil change is a DEFO in RX7's,
RX7's need to have a New ECU to control mods, as the stnadard ecu is not up to expanding fueling really, and boost creep occurs madly on these cars.
spool up to standard is 10 - 8 - 10 psi.
Mine has Oil/Water/Exhaust Temp Guages.
Mine has Digital Boost reading on my boost controler (HKS EVC)
good boost controller hks evc
and yea warming up and turbo timing it down is very good idea for all cars not just jap supercars
