£20,000 would make a good deposit on a house, much better investment and £15,000 saved up for bills etc and just get a cheap car for £5000

If I were 17 with 40k I'd invest it. Why waste money on modding a car? May as well throw the cash down the drain, she'd be better off buying a new mini one or something cheap, won't cost the earth to insure and won't let her down. Save the remaning 30k. I was left a large sum from someone my dad knew, 3-4 years later I haven't spent a penny of it
