But much more torque, better mid range performance and better revving engine. It all adds up.

You just think that the X16XE would be pumping 150bhp if it wasnt so restricted. Its like an angry animal trying to get out.

i think u'll find thats the non-ecotec c16xe with bigger inlet etc
x16xe is a completely different engine

try being in a 106gti with the engine ticking over whilst moving on the clutch only

ha ha dont comment to me about the two engines. I know them inside out mechanically. Yes the C16XE is the better engine but it also has its pitfulls. Both peak power and torque figures are reached at about 500rpm lower than the X16XE. It responds easier to mods though. And both the engines suffer from extremely complicated inlet manifolds and plenums. The C16XE would be good for 150bhp and the same goes for the X16XE. They really arent that much different apart from the slight design difference in the inlet system and higher compression ratio.

i wouldnt necessarily call it an angry animal trying to get out
the saxo/106 1.6 16v engine is much more tuneable, 120bph standard, 140bhp is easily gained with a fell s/s system with decat and induction kit
i know which id rather have

Ecosse ram airbox filter
Gas flowed and ported head
Kent PT50 cams
Chip tuned
Supersprint 4-2-1 manifold
Twin-exit stainless exhaust system
Groupe N clutch
Lightened and balanced flywheel
Quickshift
This on a GTI/VTS will see 150hp

it takes a little more than TB's to get that engine over 200bhp
andy hamiltons is more of a race spec engine

yes it is a race spec engine, as is lucky b's. but it can safely reach this power without blowing itself up. Sooty, those parts, similarly coupled to a 16XE and a better inlet manifold will easily see 150bhp too, probably even more with decent MBE engine management.

Nah it would be pretty even once the corsa has lost a couple of hundred pounds.

someone's from pug performance... I think it was one of the 130hp factory ones... Im convinced now there was variances in the power output on 1997-1999 VTS/GTI's .. and I hope im lucky to get a nice 130hp one by chance

ask dean (sxiboy1) cos he knows a bit about saxo engines and power etc, dont think the pug came with 130bhp as the increase had something to do with citroen fiddling with the exhaust etc
