I've not driven the 325. Apparantly the 325 likes to be revved, its not as easy to drive round town as the 2.8 because of the torque difference.
I don't know the torque of the 325 but the 328 is 207lb/ft.
The 325 had the M50 engine and the 328 had the M52, which was at risk to the Nikasil problem. Do a search on google about it, you need to read about it before you go and buy one.
And the LSD from an S can be put on the 328i if you can get one from a breakers.

basically nikasil was a element they used inthe cylinder bores and aparantly on the m52 engines they had this and low sulphur petrol corroded this and caused major cylinder bore failure resulting in a new engine bottom end! very expensive!
i'm worried about this now

If you get a 328 with full BMW service history they will replace the engine for you if it develops the problem, you just have to pay for oil and other fluids, costs about £100. Or get one with a full warranty.
The cars after 97 I think had steel liners to cure the problem. Not all of them get the problem though, they reckon ones up north were more likely to get it as the petrol was a lower quality? Sounds like arse to me?
Mine is a 95 and has not developed the problem.
Any 328 that has had the engine replaced by BMW with have the steel liners so will be fine. If your looking at an older one see if you can get one where the engine has been replaced under warranty.
