If you read what I wrote..... I said IF you are PROPERLY insured and your insurance company replace parts you have modified to the ones you bought.

For example, waste 3k on a shitty paintjob and and another 2k on a bodykit, total 5k, and you smash your car up, YOUR policy will only pay to have the car returned to factory standard, and would not pay out for the bodykit and everything else.

Thats how some insurance companies work, they let you fit what you want BUT they will only replace with standard parts is a claim comes about, BUT if the accident / whatever is caused by something youve fitted your double fcuked.
