I'm the guy with the 1.2, with Dbilas manifold, Dastek, K&N in drilled airbox with revised cold air feed, and now a full system, but the cat is still in place on the manifold, i took a few things out weight wise. I'd say the gearing on the 1.0 and 1.2 would limit top speed even if you tuned it or went down a hill. I mean its doing over 5000 rpm at 90 mph ! The gearing is too low.
Power wise, huh drilling the airbox properly gives lots more than 1 nho for fucks sake been on a few dyno's now done back to back speed tests with a Gtech. I think it gives about 5 bhp even with std filter.
Also the srd 1.2 converting wheels output is nearer 80 bhp std, Vauvhall quote 75. The earlier one is nearer 70 than quoted 75.
Mines about 115 bhp now, so much for untuneable 1.2's.

i remember all this shíte the last time, and it all boils down to why puts loads of money into tuning a 1.2 that is still slower than alot of other std cars outhere
u could buy a 1.8sri corsa for the money you've probably spent
fact is, you tune something till your blue in the face, ur still get wasted by something else
"i've got the fastest 1.2 on this board" - so???
people usually tune somethin so much then they move on to something bigger when they realise they are constantly pissin money down the drain
and before everybody starts going mental
THIS IS MY OPINION

No. I spent about £1400 car was 7500 new, saving on list of 9395 with the options It had. An Sri 1.8 is not under 9000, not even under 10. Now i'm upgrading the brakes. The only down side.

1.2 16 valve does 90 in 3rd gear? thats 10 mph off its factory top end. Was that by any chance when u drove off the edge off a cliff and in midair?
my 1.4 8 valve doesnt do that hit 80 and it tops someone is telling porkies.

The point is though, and you make a good point....
I had quicker cars, I'm 30, the last cars I had were two Zetec S Fiestas, and before that an R reg VTS. I thought I'd just put up with the 1.2 and was not planning to tune it. But I really got fed up with the way it didn't pull in 2nd from as low as like 10 mph. No it does. And I didn't have to sell the Corsa and buy a 1.6 something or other. The thing is a 1.4 Corsa is not a large improvement on a 1.2 for the money you pay.
The 1.8 I admit is good and would see off lots of Hot hatches, but the insurance and purchase price, plus more expensive road tax.

1.4 is a bigger improvement on the 1.2 by quite a bit i test drove b4 i brought my 1.4 didnt like it at all the amount of cash u spent buying and tuning ur 1.2 u could have brought a 1.4 or even a 1.6.

Well the 1.6 would have been 2nd hand so I would have saved, I don't think the Corsa B drives as well as the C.
Tuning a car is satisfying anyway, thats part of the reason. Next up I'm gonna do something with the cylinder head. More cash, but more dash.
I used to have a 1.3 SR Nova in like 1993, I could have bought 2 GTE's with the cash I spent on it. Had a Blydenstein head and all sorts of crap on it. But the time I'd finished it was damn fast. Beat a Lotus Excel down the quarter.

I'd have only spent the cash on a new TV or a new amp or Guitar or something, or pissed it up the wall on beer.

I have a corsa c 1.0l 12v life, the fastest i have got out ofit is 105 mph, totally floored, it took a good 20mins to get to that, there was no way my car was gonna do any faster than that cos it was floored for ages!

lmao, speedo inaccuracy isnt such that if u were shown as 115 you wouldnt be doing 100, i have a GPS system and i was doing 92/3 on the speedo and the GPS stated 90mph - it has a fix of 6 sattellites too so it was very accurate

Personally, i would have to agree.. ive done 80 in 3rd on my 1.2 (and im sure i could have got more outta it) and i was like huh
However, lets give evzyboy a chance yea? you lot sitting there saying "theres no way you could be doing 110mph in a 1cc car because blah blah blah (who gives a fek reason)". Well evzyboy get that photo up mate (u2u me if ya want it hosted or sumthing ) and then ya can prove the lot that think its impossible

And, to the guy thats modded the 1.2 16v, good on ya, its good to see someone doing a 1.2 properly.
Can i ask though how much torque the engines putting out?

Hang on, getting a second hand 1.6 Sport/GSi, spend £1400 on the engine and you could be blowing away lots of nice motors!! Why spend all that money on a 1.2 and be just as fast as a standard Sport 1.6?
