sorry to be so harsh but buying a corsa gsi ?and uve only passed ur test a week? then crashing at speeds like that, you should have your licence revoked, especially when theirs ice on the road did u ever do a thoery test? if u dont get banned get aa 1.0litre or something and learn how to drive that first. how would u feel if u would have crashed into a family coming home from a day out and killing them all? ud be locked up,be careful!

I got my car bought for me, but it's only an N reg Merit. I pay for everything on it, including my own insurance.
When I was at school people had cars bought for them (brand new) and they give then sod all respect.

So there was diesel AND frost on the road....Right. Why cant you take full responsibility as it sounds it was your fault totally. Still think £800 under your mums insurance is still a bit optimistic - i would have said it would have been more than that. You say you want a 1.2 next - i think you will even struggle with this. Aim for something like a 850cc mini - should get insured on that!!!

My mate had a Metro GTa for his first car, 1.4 8v - amusing vehicle. But he rolled it on a straight road. How? He went around a priority traffic island thingy on his side of the road but swerved in too quickly and it was wet... Lost the back end and tapped a bank on the front end at about 30mph - toppled the car on its roof.
Same guy got a Saxo VTR a week later, and crashed it the following week on the A41 after hitting a dear at about 90mph, straight into the central reservation.
Lucky because he'd been doing 130mph (or so the speedo read) about 20 secs before - but he'd slowed down for me to catch up (I have a Corsa B 1.2 16v SXi lol)
I also crashed me first car... was a mk4 Fiesta, 1.3 8v, crashed it in the wet cutting a mini-roundabout. Just went straight on into a lamp post in the wet. I was 17 at the time, had been driving three months. It did hurt and I learned... Now I have my SXi 1.2 16v which I got in February and I have now been driving a year. I haven't come near to an accident, mainly because I don't drive like a twat anymore. People I have in the car want me to go faster most of the time or do stupid twatish overtaking monoveures which I would have done in my Fiesta but not now - I'm 18, I'm adult I know it's wrong!!! lol... But I ent gonna crash just bcoz my mates want to go fast. They can fuck off and write off their own car!
My next car? Nissan Pulsar GTi-R, 2.0 16v turbo just kidding...
Anyway just my 2p's worth... MODDEDCORSAGSI i know how it feels m8 and unfortunately ur gonna be landed with a slower motor for your next car. Such is life mate, at least ur alive... Leave it a few years and get another nippy motor :-)
Laters all

i crashed my first car also about 20 over the limit. Police prosecuted and i got 4 points and £250 fine.
Yesterday got another 3 points (luckily over 2 years with license) from a really grumpy cop in an unmarked car doing 62 in a 50. was gutted as i drive really steady now, my first crash frightened me enuff to slow mw down a good bit.

Ah we've all done it..
First car was a Turbo Diesel escort.
40 Round a bend (That i've taken at 45 -50 since), the car started to go, (it was wet, i've been round it faster in the wet since though).. I tapped the brakes through inexperience and hit the bank on the other side of the road - Went up and landed in an oak Tree.
2 months of driving to the day.
Since then i've also written a saxo off in the wet, going round a traffic island when some dopey woman came round the corner (blindish bend) at 50 in a 30.
I couldn't stop and so ploughed into her, This was over a year ago and insurance are still fighting.
I'm currently drivin an Audi A3 1.8 Turbo - Its a lovely car, but the expense is silly, its now up for sale and i've bought a W reg corsa sport for £300 and i'm just making it run right.
Really mate, its not worth it - Get something bog standard and wait a bit - Once i've hit 21, i Plan to have an Audi S3 Quattro.
Roll on August 20th 2010!

70 - 80 on a road with frost and diesel!!! after a week of passing ya test ya not gonna be the new collin McCray (actuli thinkin about it, ya might end up in tha same place as him!) and especially in a superchipped GSI! bet insurance dint know about the chip neither did they. honestly mate having a car that fast for your first and also drivin it like that was stupidly stupid i started with a 1.0 i used to think that was quite nippy coz wen u jus past ur test obv. u not really bin allowed to stick fut down properly b4. but now i got a 1.4 sport an tht loads faster only thing is, now you dont stand a chance of getting insurance on anything near the speed of your gsi, and my only worry is, that you will get in another car, like a 1.0 or something, and because it doesn't accellerate like your jessy you will drive stupidly in that one trying to get more out of it

getting a 1.6 for a first car, especially if you didnt buy it is asking for trouble
1. its a 1.6 with plenty of power
2. you didnt buy it, you wont respect the car and its capabilities
this theory is put into practice that all my mates got their cars bought for them, 106 GTi, 1.8 SRi corsa, suzuki swift GTi. These cars are gonna be fcuked by their next service, but they dont give a shit.
They all cane me in my self bought 1.2 8v, but they dont pay a thing, not even for petrol.
oh yea, i asked the guys brother who is going to court, one of the passengers was in a coma for a few days, so thats why hes off to prison
[Edited on 26-10-2003 by uprated]
i started in a 1.2 8v bought and paid for totally by me and i didn't earn a huge ammount so for 2 years i kept it they brilliant cars especially as a first car and you learn a lot in them including close shaves, my friends all started on bigger cars paid for by parents and caned me aswell but one of them crashed nearly killed himself in his 1.4 16v clio,
glad you and no one else was hurt but defo learn from it, think you have tho as soon as you get behind the wheel i think itl hit home and ul drive slow, theres a time and place to go fast and on a wet/frosty bend at night is not it
