I'm driving it mate untill mine's got new engine in.
Makes sense. Can't use it but spunks money on wheels and stuff for it. I would rather drive a standard corsa than get the bus
[Edited on 18-11-2011 by Jon_C]
I'd rather take the bus lol. Im getting it how i want it before i insure it, so i dont have to spend money on stuff for it and pay insurance at the same time, plus i have absolutely no need for the car atm as i take the tram to work and back as its alot easier. Theres no way im paying for the insurance monthly, so im waiting to be able to pay it off all in 1 go, which will be soon. My bros insured it so its getting used, and so its not sat on drive. I will need the car in January, as thats when I leave my training course, then i will insure it, for now im getting it how i want it.

How hard was it to find a nice black corsa Loving the kit on there atm and those speedlines have really finished it off, liking the yellow touches as well.
How bad are the insurance costs? I'm guessing like my younger brother *18* it's sky high and hes only just gotten insured for about 2.4k on a 106 1.1 GTI replica.

Erm the car was standard when i bought it mate
Regarding insurance, when im 18 in a few weeks quotes are coming in at like 2900, but i have no use for a car atm, so im waiting till January when i will be needing it to insure it. I want to pay the insurance off in 1 go so i dont have to worry about it every month.

Adding more and more stuff to it is only going to put up your insurance? And the money spent on the mods could have been saved so its not such a struggle to get the money together to insure it?

I've been buying stuff since like Febuary, so its not like i go out and spend £300 at a time, its been over time. As i said before, i have no use of a car at the moment. When i first passed i didnt need it, but was just so annoyed at how much is was going to cost me.

Well a standard 1 in good condition i wouldnt be fussed, but mine was a mess when i got it

Lol, why are people worrying about how much he spends on it? His money and car, best time to spend money on it is when its off road and your not using your money for petrol, insurance etc etc, I did it and made alot quicker progress than I am now, keep it up lukey boy, cant wait to see it next year

Doing depos and stuff like bigger/more expensive wheels puts up the insurance?
Seems like your doing the opposite of what you need to do to be able to drive it?

Hes 100% correct. Should have just left it standard and insured it with the money your spending on it, everyone had a shitter to get there no claims bonus up. Your just making an ornament

If i saved up the money i have used on the car so far, i would still be over 2 grand short of paying for the insurance. I will be able to pay the whole year off on its own soon when i actually need to use the car. So no, im not creating an ornament, im making it how i want it too look for when i need to drive it in January.

Bandwagon?
If he wants to spend money on it now he will. All the bits he's bought have been very cheap so we didn't refuse.
He'll be insured soon anyways so it don't matter about him spending his money. :/
I know what your trying to say about him paying for insurance and been able to drive now but it's alot of money for him. He might aswell get the mods done first on a small wage then when he cab afford it he'll get insured.
I don't see why it's such a problem??

50k? :O Lol wtf, and yeah, i rang quite a few prices as soon as i said i was 17, they just tried to get off the phone as soon as they could. Most basically just told me that the quote came over the amount that is able to be displayed online (9k) so they couldn't help me, others just said they no longer did quotes for 17 year olds.

No Its not going on the road until next year, its never going to see another winter TBF though if 3k was the cheapest quote I could find for a skateboard I'd get rid, fair dos for sticking to your guns.

No No No, I don't mean the money SPENT. I mean the fact that the mods are adding to the insurance.
Modding it isnt making it cheaper, Its putting the price of the insurance up?
