Went out for a meal with my missus' family on Saturday. Ended up sat with an auntie and uncle that are long time F1 fans but are both proper Hamilton haters which was a good laugh

It was one of the first ever times I'd had such discussions without the internet and the associated bollocks/trolling.

Their perception of Hamilton is that he rocks up late on a thursday in his private jet, wanders into the garage - completely ignoring his team and then just tells his race engineer to "do what he thinks is best" on the car because he doesn't understand the engineering himself.

He then just gets in the car and happens to drag it around faster than anybody else on most weekends. Lucky I guess

Tragic really. His poor family must be going through hell.

Sadly, i think we all know how this is going to play out. Really hope im wrong, but it looks increasingly bleak the longer it goes on.

Awful awful torture for the family and everyone involved.

Sadly, no one knows whether they'll wake up and make a recovery or not.

I know what I would want and it's not a life in a wheelchair. I'd want my famiky to remember what I did best and cherish those memories, rather than the ones of constant care.

It puts Kubica's "tragedy" into context. Boohoo he had a Ferrari seat lined up and now he can only fit his wonky arm inside a WRC car.

I think F1 has had a very lucky couple of decades, it's a shame but this incident has been a long time coming so let's hope for at least another 20 years before the next one...

Sounds like it was only a matter of time unfortunately, and it's probably a relief for the family having some closure on it

Having watched the video again, it's truly horrific. Not a surprise having seen just how bad that crash was. Very sad.

Can't forget the Maria De Vilotta crash as well.

Same. Lewis fastest in every single track session so far. Just needs fastest lap and a win in the race for a full house.
