They want to replace suarez with bony and origi.. Wow. The problem Liverpool have is almost all of their squad is average. Suarez is a genuine world class player, that title is used far too often.

Rodgers must be fucking livid.

His cock was cemented up Suarez's arse.

"Barcelona face a logistical conundrum regarding Suarez's presentation as their player - usually done at the Nou Camp which is opened up to fans - as his worldwide suspension extends to entering any football ground."

I agree, but they couldn't turn down £70m+ for him. Bony is decent enough, Origi was the best of the Belgian strikers at the WC (although apparently they'll be loaning him straight back anyway)

Will definitely be an interesting season, with Arsenal buying someone (you'd assume they'd get more, although that's far from guaranteed) and United actually supporting their manager this window and spending hundreds of millions (supposedly)

Yeah no way could they turn the money down. Probably hit his peak in terms of value/age

Oh, I 100% agree their hands were tied with this and its a big amount of money. I actually think he will be a monster for Barca and watch, his attitude will be second to none out there.

It will be interesting to see what Rodgers does with this, as replacing Suarez is impossible.

They do seem to be doing a Spurs so far this summer, but I'm not sure there's much else they can do, without spending £40m+ they won't get a World Class player, and what "World Class" strikers are there available who might move anyway?

They'll be happy with getting out of the group in the CL and 4th again in the Prem i'd imagine, but as I said above, that's going to prove harder than ever this year if early signings are anything to go by

For me I would have spanked the Suarez fee on Mandzukic and Sanchez. Pay them whatever they wanted to come, and go from there. Easier said than done I know!

The the big thing. The number of times you hear people saying oh they have sold Bale, Suarez etc they need to replace him with a wold class xx. The fact is there are very few world class players of this level. There is probabably only 1 or 2 in the market during any window for a position which is not a lot of people for all the top clubs out there.

I don't think you can replace Suarez without being lucky. He was amazingly good and make a good team a title challenger.

Very very impressive work by the contantly maligned Wenger, Gazidis and Law!

I'm surprised that you would make that link tbh. A modern day footballing genius and the PL's best ever player they are not. But great players none the less!
Reports are saying it was £75m, which would be very hard to turn down tbh. I personally would throw half of it at RM's feet for Benzema. A change of scenery could bring him back to his very best.

Ozil has been the worst of the midfield for Germany, but its a pretty good midfield.

He hasn't been £40m good or what ever he cost. Same as Mata hasn't been anything like £37m good

How long does it take for players to settle in Prem? Took Henry, Bergkamp etc etc at least a season.

Only thing that concerns me about all this is that we could potentially spend in the region of £100m and still not have a new centre back to show for it
