Just found some shocking news on the BBC website after seeing the suspected match fixing in Nigeria.

Apparently West Ham are interested in Downing

I saw that and was stunned. The fact the number was 8 figures long made me turn off my computer, walk into my shower fully clothed, and I am not ashamed to say I wept in the corner.

They didn't quote a price they were willing to offer in that article. If its 5m or so, then I wouldn't be too bothered by it.

Liverpool fast becoming west hams feeder club

He's certainly handy to have about but there's a reason Lambert didn't play him.

Yea thats true, hes nothing but a goalscorer, but when hes banging 25 a season in who gives a fuck... He could be fantastic at newcastle

The only thing i can think of is they are planning to have him as GK coach in the future. If not, well, easy last pay day for Schwarzer

You lot why on earth is it strange?

He's experienced, he was for free, he's proved at the PL level, he's got bundles of international experience, he's still a very fit keeper, he knows he's coming in as number 2 and won't mind being on the bench. He won't mind playing the odd game, and he's just signed a 1 year deal for us. Plus I imagine he's delighted to be at a club like Chelsea, and he lives closer to us than he did at Fulham. And to add, he hasn't any worries about making the WC Squad for Brazil as he obviously will. What's strange about it

Pretty sure he didn't sign a new contract at Fulham as he wasn't guaranteed first team football. Could be wrong though.

I don't think it's that strange, just a bit out of the blue as there were no rumours about this potentially happening before hand. Will probably play a similar role to the one played by Friedel for spurs last year.
