I fear you wouldnt get as much traction with the steelies as weith bigger alloys, especially with the xe. BBS rims in bronze would look awesome I think.

I couldnt personally say how much of a difference that would make. I just know from personal experience that I had more straight line speed on rallye steels but turn in was improved with the alloys. Im not sure how much the dimensions differ on those though.

there will be alot less side drift in the tyre on the alloys thats for sure. im running a 195/50 15 bridgestone on the steels cause thats what i could get for nothin from work off sales cars lol

2 Bar? Was that when it was cold or hot?

I get 4.5 to 5 bar when cold and about 1.5 at the most on tickover when its warmed up...

cheers for the comments ppl, car is now dead again lol gearbox gave up on boxing day on the way to my grandrents house for lunch, after 1.5hr wait for recovery we finally got it home. was only 3hrs late for lunch.

it died in 3rd gear but i think its the diff that has finally given up. i picked up a new f20 box 2day so will get that fitted tomorrow and then start stripping down the old one to see whats gone. if its just the diff then i'll save for an lsd for it

I find it easy to get one person underneath locating the box and another above the car supporting the weight with a strap round the box. or ese a hoist if you have one.

all done. old box has a "locator" on the end of the imput shaft and new box didnt which made it abit harder to line up but get there in the end.

if things didnt go wrong then i would get bored very quickly lol. i think this is the shortest its been off to road for lol

so far its all gone well, will take it for a drive later to see how it goes.

next step strip the old box and find out what went wrong

no progress anymore really as im happy with out the car is atm and unless it brakes, ive not really got any plans to do anythin else to it apart from new driveshafts and hubs, vernier pulleys and a remap and full set-up

playing with the idea of a monterey bonnet vent atm to help with the airflow to the throttle bodies

Good ideas. Just enjoy it whilst you can. Can't really take it out when the snow arrives.
