3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th and reverse work fine but not 1st and 2nd. Potentially gearbox is a goner

Linkage? A lad i know (been on here few times) has got rid of his 1.8t golf. Problem after problem

Water pump, gear linkage, electrics - it just got silly in the end. I drove it when he first got it, (when it worked ) Lovley drive. First turbo petrol car i drove

How many miles has it done?

Rich H - Tell me about it mate! Its disheartening but when its driving i love it to bits!

Richc - Going to play around with the linkage in a bit and hopefully be able to get the two gears back. But apparently there is a rivet on the selector fork which can shear inside the box (what is it with me and things shearing )

Its an absolute dream to drive, and its going to have to do worse to me before i get rid! Luckily i have a spare 6speed box, so should only have to pay labour to get it fitted.

Car and box have done 53k but that engine has done 70k.

Maybe G units write off seeing our write offs working, may bring it back to life Or convince ours to give up

I havent read of of this but has the 2 clips coming of the box slipped as there only crappy plastic?

I re adjusted mine with a Audi TT shifter(shorter than normal) and you can adjust it your self...
