interesting developments tonight. went to visit a few mates in the corsa. no issues till i went to go home. wouldnt start. battery flat showing 8v on the gauge in the car. bugger. had to jump start it. have checked all the earths in the bay, one from gearbox, one from alt, one in boot for the battery. all fine.
maybe the battery is dead? only a year old.

oh, and car drives miles smoother with that flywheel being a touch heavier. going to do a bit data logging tomorrow if car will start just to check it over. try get it back on rollers again on weekend as its been nearly 2 months since it was mapped. worth checking up on it.

Could be a ruined starter motor, even though the starter still works as there could be a short in the brushes constantly draining battery power...mmm.

starter and alt were new recon parts from unipart last year. going to go to my mates later and check it all over with a multi meter. well, if it starts that is.
i was scared to stop for pertol incase it wouldnt fire up again. taking the jump pack thing with me tonight. the joys.

At least its a light car and easy to bump start. i left the interior light on in my dads VW Eos a few weeks ago. Pushing it up the street to start it was not fun

was going to my mates tonight to rattle can some wheels. got in corsa, wouldnt start. flat again. jumper pack thing on, fired up. went to mates house with petrol light on. knocked it off. picked me mate up, it started fine. went to petrol station put 20 sheets worth of power v in it, started fine. went to hellfrauds for some paint, started fine. been sat outside my mates since about 8 ish. it started fine. raced some lexus on way home, i say raced, i mean annoyed. knocked it off. started back up fine.
we had a look round, cant see anything wrong really. wondering if its the battery thats at fault. what worries me is on tick over it drops to about 10-11volts. which aint good. quick blip of throttle sees it back up to 13-14 volts. im wondering is it idleing a bit too low perhaps. ticks over about 700-750, smooth as you like, but maybe wants to be a touch faster on idle.
tomorrow im going to get a battery fired on it from work. see what its like when i leave work, as in if it starts. if it dont, its not battery.

Sounds a bit like battery, short journey plus sitting for a while = non-start
Longer journey then not sitting so long and it starts,.
Not sure about the whole voltage dropping on idle thing.
Just hope it's at crail on the 17th

yeah thats the thing. it doesnt exactly do that many long journeys. work and back is 14 miles a day. takes 10 minutes each way. to my mates house is 10 minutes through the town centre. ive not actually drove it since doing the clutch until the other day when it wouldnt start. drove it after doing clutch but not for long.

aye that earth is only one thats been off. but that was first thing that was investigated the other day. ive cleaned it up both ends and put it back on.
its not like i have a radio or interior light to drain the battery. other possible cause is the alarm somehow.

typically just been out for a tab and thought id try and start the car up see if it would start. alas it almost did. if i had given it a touch of throttle it probably would have done. now its flat again though. bugger.
