Ok so the xenons need more work. Took them out again today.
You can see here the shroud popped off as it was such a tight fit. This wasn't with road use, rather me closing the bonnet lol.
See here how far the projector recessed into the mounting. I didn't want to but I think I am going to have to glue them in there this time. I'm hoping most of this movement was down to there not being enough slack in the bulb wiring behind it so when I adjusted it, it just slid backwards
Shall attemp build 2.0 but I have seen a guys build on TRs site that is essentially what I had originally planned and it looks amazing. Might be for when I have more money lying around though.

I would've given up with them lights by now, been off the car more than they've been on , the light they give off does look like its worth it though, my lights are terrible at night.

Its a bit tricky as you are building something from essentially scratch. But its quite rewarding.
Thinking starting again!

So attempted to install my screen today s was left feeling a bit pissed off with Alpine.
Mainly down to two things. First off, they kindly gave me a parking brake wire that was 15cm long
So had to make my own. Thanks! (Mate got the cheaper version and that came with one that was about 2m long?!
I got the Nav module but didn't fit that yet, I'm not sure how to power to it works as it supplied with a cable that has a female connector on the end but no make connections with the same plug anywhere else on my car or other Alpine products?!
Trial fit:
Removed again as it turned itself off and wouldn't play audio. So not sure WTF is going on.
It also didn't recognise my iPod as even though the unit costs hundreds of pounds it requires you purchase an extra cable to use the iPod. Fair enough you say, but I already have one and it doesn't fucking support it so I need to spend another £25 to get one
Not impressed so far.

I cant see myself ever watching stuff on the move, it looks more "fdactory" that way i guess too? ALways be reversed if I want.
FOund out the Navi unit didnt have the proper power cord with it when I got it off eBay
So seeing about a replacement. Been driving me potty for the last two days that has.

I've never used them on the move but it saved running a cable for something I didn't need

I earthed my handbrake cable on my alpine tv head unit. Couldn't beat a bit of FIFA when sat in traffic.

Working on the paddles. It's sooo long winded. It's like trying to sculp a hardened rubber tyre with a wonky template
Progress so far.. One side down!

1st stage complete!
They need trimming and positioning a bit better but the holes are cut. Need to drill the support to accept the words and mount the actual paddle. But that's stage2!
Carefully tested to see if I can still hold the wheel properly etc. all works perfectly!

I earthed my Alpine purely because I couldn't access the full settings without my handbrake on... I couldn't even disable "demo mode"

Could you have fitted the bigger paddles that the E46 owners upgrade too? Looks nice though

These are AMG paddles off a C63, the ones you are referring to Alan are off the e46 which won't fit on my steering wheel as the switch unit is so bulky. But I don't like those huge paddles myself, look a bit max power IMO! These are so compact, but also metal so have a lovely premium feel.
Can't wait to get this all hooked up, got so much to do to it. It's all coming along nicely now.

I remember when you didn't know how to fit a new MFD, now look at what you've done!

Haha yeah I've learnt a lot from my mentor.
Don't think I could do the MFD but I'm enjoying being more hands on now. I'd have had a shit load more done on the car but my garage that was empty is now full so can't get it in there.
Cheers for the positive replies chaps. She's getting there slowly!
Also my new FXR projectors STILL haven't been dispatched from the US. Despite ordering them like over a month ago
