Yes, your speedo is 100% accurate; you can reach 130mph in a standard GSi, the Earth is flat and the moon is made of green cheese.

Look forward to meeting you someday and showing what 220bhp in Corsa really feels like.

i work for vaux and i know how the systems work. if it says 130 etc, its doin that.if your theory about inertia is so good, that must mean that by gravitational law if your goin down a hill doin 130, then are u really doin 140?

gravitational force has nothing to do with going down hil. just take your car to rwyb and you will see, have you been?

Corsabubble - rather than us argue here, I do honestly recommend that you get your car up the strip or on a timed track this summer. I ran in the Corsa vs Saxo day and was genuinely surprised to get just 134.4mph with the engine spec I have. This was Datron GPS timed BTW; considered to be the most accurate of the lot.

Fads - you're more than welcome and I won't charge. Just let me know if you're ever heading up north

Gearbox drives the wheels - if the rotational circumference of the wheel is out (for example if you fit larger or smaller wheel tyre combos than standard), the speedo will indicate lower/higher speeds respectively than the manufacturer's spec. Not saying this applies to you - just an example

like i said it was DOWN a dual carriage way and it was close to red lining, the car was screaming its nutz off and i am pretty dam sure the car was at its max........why do so many posts have to turn into a feckin debate about whether or not the person asking the question is correct......just answer the question, if not dont reply at all

i agree with u sir! people dont need to get on their high horse and start putting u down all u asked is wot other people have had out of theirs, not if the speedo is reading wrong! they shouldnt take things so seriously!

I know its not a 1.6 sport but i could only get 102mph out of my old 1.2 8v and that was going downhill!

a cable that is turnin due to revolutions of a final drive isnt going to change its state just because its goin fast. thats saying when you go faster u arent really. so when a f1 car is doin 200mph, it isnt really? on a corsa b its a cable driven system, if the gearbox final drive assy is spinning at a said speed this is how fast its going-simple. a corsa c uses a hall effect sensor and these are very accurate. so how can u say they are innacurate if its a electronic reading from a hall sensor? u cant. plus at a rolling road there is no resistance throught the drive wheels, so u would get a higher top speed. so take your physics theory and stick em.

im with you mr bubble

Your post asked what speeds other people were getting out of their 1.6s. Some people merely wanted to answer that question in terms of likely actual speeds, not speedo indicated speeds, which are notoriously unreliable

been into blakes today and asked one of the mechanics how accurrate speedos are
........and he said that they are in accurate to a tiny % e.g. if your speedo said 128mph you may actually be doing 130/126mph ...inacurate to 1/2%
.........this is the same from 0mph - 100+

....thats what a vauxhall specialist said anyway!

and it only changes the spedo reading if the rolling diametre is more than the original wheels..........and my 15" are exactly the same rolling diametre as the standard ones that come on it

.............so after days of moaning and bitching are certain people happy now to except that my speedo (if inaccurate) would have only been to +/- 1/2mph

.............so to the people that said i was doing only 105mph or 115mph etc

laterz

at yourself for thinking you can 130 out of a gsi, with filter and zorst. your speed was down hill for fuck sake. just take your car to rwyb and shut up when it tells you you were doing a less speed
