since last summer i have either fixed or replaced-

alternator + bracket
2x alternator belts
2x Crank shaft angle sensor
distibutor cap
HT leads
Spark plugs
Head gasket
Engine Mount bolts
2x cambelt
Top radiator Hose
Injector Loom
Clutch
Gear linkage
Fuel Pump
ECU

To be fair tho it does get abused. a lot.

i have done 4 track days and 1 rr session since i got it. Also before i got mine the cly head was swapped as the original one went pourus (sp) When the new one was fitted it had the wrong size bolts in the distributor causing it to leak and eventully die and there was a bolt missing from the rocker cover. Also it had either the wrong or just really bad fitting HT leads, which were both cracked, causing a random misfire, and kept jumping off the dizzy everytime i booted it.

If u get a decent one u'll be fine, my mates standart Astra GTE 16v saw 145k without a rebuild.

Went for a fair in depth rebuild on mine before it went in as I didn't really know the condition of the engine.

Since then gear linkage went after a few days, just needed nipping up tighter, crank bearings went which turned out to be caused by a faulty new oil pump and now a cv has killed itself but these are the originals off the Astra so could be very old.

Other than that its been fine up to now.

yes. a company called novatech fitted it along with PAS, tb's + omex ecu
~

Reckon they have taken the sensor off the rear discs. Donna had this nearly, had to have the beam sorted so the ABS sensors could be attached. No probs since.

That and the fact that most of these engines are getting on a bit for 100,000 miles.

I can actually say i wasn't ragging my car at all when both my small problems happened

daimo the advantage will be in a year to 2 years is there will be a lot of engines for sale that have had rebuilds, and at a good reduced price to what they normally go for now

things like water pumps, Timing belt and clutches should be changed while the engines out on the ground.
