I actually love the Megane nearly as much as the Astra and for me to say that about a French car is pretty impressive.

astra did some terrible moves when stig was in it
really bad understeer, oversteer, torque steer

They never like Vauxhalls, always willing to knock it.
Who gives a fcuk though, its now the fastest car in its class and you have'nt been able to say that about a mid sized Vaux since the Mk2 Astra

Yes, from what I have been told there was nothing in it between the Megane and the Astra... so it cant handle that badly really can it!
Would rather be half a second behind the megane and actually have a car which is built to last... than have the dashboard rattle out and a wheel fall off whilst driving

stig was driving, he came into one corner, turned wheel and it kept going straight, was probably the worse bit of driving i seen on the top gear track
but i guess the shear straight line speed made the lap time up
it just didn't look nice to drive, reminds me of how unpreditable my corsa is

Would the 19's have something to do with the handling? I think it may

Jeremy said, "there's no point having a good engine with that much power in a FWD car that has a poor chassis"

probably fine when driven by 90% of road going people, but in an competive environment it looked hardwork

conclusion for me
the vauxhall wins on looks, top end speed, and its cheap, thats enough to convince me,
french car handles better around a track but i feel the build quality may let it down in the long run (thats just my opinion)
golf is the best built car, however it costs more, and is slower top end
if money was no object i would have the golf, however i would probably buy the vauxhall
