When I was looking I found the cups cheaper. Mainly because you don't get things like air con plus etc...
I didn't go for the cup because I wanted the luxury of air con, cd changer etc.
I paid 6k for mine that was about 7 months ago. It had 29k on the clock and frsh, it was a 2001 reg.
Be warned the 36k service is fairly expensive and if its 4-5 years old it will need cambelt change. It will cost about £700 for both at renault because the cambelt is a bitch to do. They actually have to lift the engine out slightly to change it, as well as take most of the front of the car apart it was scary to watch.
Other than that I have had only one problem and that was needing new spark plugs and leads.

You will get about 32mpg (which is good for a 2l), they handle great and are pretty quick.
I am very pleased with my choice, I wouldn't mind the 182 as I like the twin exhaust but overall I happy.

DC5 is spunkworthy, look amazing. But slower than the DC2

Insurance is a bit crazy too as they are imports

Are they not as quick as the DC2?

Id even consider a DC2!

Oh........and what I usually say. Nissan 200sx S14a or even an S15 depending on money/ins.

The 172 build quality is shoot, and to bo honest, there wouldnt be much in a 172 and an ACT. Just keep looking until you find the astra you want.

Na DC2 is slightly quicker even tho it has less power as the DC5 is heavier, altho the DC5 is better over 100 I would imagine

I cant afford Jap stuff at 20 with 0 ncbs!!

I need a car thats cheap to run for my last 2.5 years at uni but still fun to drive!
Its a fact that im not going to find an astra for 6.5k - without getting myself into debt which i cant afford to do!
I think the clio will be a good replacement for the corsa for now, and then when i can afford an astra coupe turbo or wait till the vxr then i shall move on.

I love my vauxhalls yes, but the simple fact is i cant afford what i want and wont put myself into debt just for that!

Seat Ibiza Cupra-R if you can find one, this is my bro's. He paid £6900 for it about 6 months ago, had the bumper and bonnet re-sprayed and the 17s so spent about a grand and its really mint now.

180bhp standard, brembos, half leather, etc etc

Patrick though

I bought a clio 172 today

18 months old, 40k miles, frsh, 6k
is mint and id say faster than the corsa, handles soo bloody well and great fun to drive. and i must say i think im happier with the clio as no debt, and more what i need rather than a huge astra! where the z20let has its tuning and reliability worries!
