Yesh, although under slightly more deserved circumstances AS IT WERE... thats not a pop, just the truth, he died of cancer did he not from smoking 40 a day for his entire life... he even used to go out for fag breaks whilst commentating with murray!

Remember Murray saying how much fun he had with james when they only had 1 mic and had to share it :S

RIP James Hunt

I watched the video again last night with my dad who pointed out something which shocked me, watched Gilles Villeneurves crash again, when the car comes back into view you can see a white spec fly across the screen from the wreckage, this being Gilles himself who came loose from the car and was hurled across the track. Sickening.

watching sennas crash again, it bothers me how all those marshalls ran over to the car, but as soon as they got there they just stopped.

they arent trained to deal with the medical side, just to make the crash safe (no fire, other cars, etc.) and you dont want non-medically trained staff trying to pull someone with a possible broken neck out of a car!!

You would probably have stopped in your tracks too Simon if you'd found a dead Brazilian with no face.

Just watched Tom Pryce's video on the second link again
Ddint realise that the circled car in the clips after the marshall was hit was actually Tom's car Hitting the barrier before hitting another car as he was dead at the wheel.

Ouch

Resisted the temptation to watch both clips till now.

Just watched them, not as much of a shock as I expected as I was familiar with most of them.

Still very sad though.

I don't think contemporary drivers can have any idea of how blessed they are with regards to safety.

I'm surprised the Mercedes crash at LeMans wasn't included (probably no footage) It happened in 1956 if I remember correctly.

I think it was an impact between a Healey and a Merc, the Mercedes' engine left the car and was catapulted into the crowd.

Something like 113 people were killed, and many more wounded and maimed.

To think people get so worked up about football.

There's no more dedicated and devoted band of sportsmen than those who risked an almost certain horrible death in a ball of fire every time they competed.
