well just got in from work and I would have said that was definitely not a penalty

Defender impeded him without a doubt but thought he left his leg in and could of stood up.

On the other hand it was a clumsy challenge and he did miss the ball totally.

Wouldn't of said it merits some of the comments on here

Dave, I think the comments aimed at Gianlugi are meant in jest, especially as people know he will rise to them. I don't think anybody meant them to be read than anything but that.

Dodgy but he shouldnt have lid on the floor in the box :S

Italy IMO deserve some fortune, they have had some horrible luck in recent years (although they had Mussolini to thank for thie 1st 2 world cup triumohs and lest be honest, half their team should have been banned from 82 because of match fixing )

i felt so bad for the players, they played theirs hearts out this morning, everyone was discussing at work how well they did against a powerhouse like Italy. To go into a game like that and play the way they did, they deserved every chance and hope of succeeding. unfortunately is the way with Football that unfair decisions come and go with the wind, but its about time FIFA put a stop to snap decision making at crucial moments like that, perhaps get an opinion from a linesman, or dare i say it, bring in video replays like rugby/cricket!!
all credit due to Italy for the defending skill, was very impressive.

but how good was the aussie keeper

David, the aussies were hard done by. sometimes these decisions go for or against you....it always happens. Bit of poor reffing, but waasnt the worst referee display we've seen.

Australia should return with their heads held high, exceeding the expectations of many.

Canavarro was my Man of the Match for the second game running.

Italy made more chances than Australia and dominated more of the game. Toni just couldn't put the ball in the net.

I would agree with Edd
